Manly apparently in discussions with both Adam Reynolds and Jamal Fogarty managers. Looking around super league too

Funny, they weren't going to offer DCE a two year deal, but now might get Reynolds who must be of similar vintage.

I’ve seen it around too that manly won’t stand in Brooks way if he finds another deal past his 2027 contract with them saying he won’t be extended past that. Not sure if it’s genuine or not?

If true, it might suggest that they could have negotiated pretty favourably on their contract contribution to Walker for this year.

DCE is worth as much as he can get. If you have Nathan Cleary DCE probably isn’t worth anything to you. If you are a top halfback away from a premiership it is probably worth whatever you can afford.






Thought this was a good post on the sharks forum. Are we a top halfback away from title? Certainly got a great pack and back 5 are pretty sharp. Good dummy half too

If 700k on top of TMMs contract is all it takes to bring DCE over here I think we'd be mad not to consider it.

A dominant half in this team like DCE would guarantee us a top 6 finish imo. Anyone can win it from there I reckon.

In 2023 SJ was a top half and he got us to top 4. Not sure how Metcalf would see it though?

The only real one I can think of was Cronk with the Roosters, but you have to agree the aging half certainly seems to be popular at the minute.

Cronk + Chooks is a great example. I guess you have to make sure the half you are signing = Cronk and your team is = Chooks.

They had a great team leading up, but there was always a view that Mitchell Pearce couldn’t take them to a premiership, and was probably correct looking at all he’s done since. So roosters were a premiership calibre team lacking a halfback. Shows how important it is when Cronk steered them to a title busted. I actually think we’re in a similar position. Metcalf is good, but hasn’t been there yet to own big games

I dunno if we're that similar. Roosters were a top 2 team in 2017. And they also massively upgraded the FB position from Gordon to prime Tedesco in the same off season which seems to get forgotten a bit so it was more than just a half putting them over the top.

Teddy was their best player across 2018-2019 and arguably the best player in the world during that period.

Yeah that’s fair but they also finished second to last in 2016. They picked up Keary going into 2017 but there was a mix of youth in people like Latrell Mitchell and still parts of the team that went on to win a title. Coming into 2018 they identified areas like replacing Gordon with Tedesco and replacing Pearce with Cronk that really paid dividends
