A loss is always disappointing but that one not so much. Thought the incoming guys went well overall and the experience will do them a world of good. The future with some of these kids and their development being managed properly is very promising. I know Going and Roache aren't exactly teenagers in age but they are in playing terms. Someone mentioned earlier about running the reggies spine and that sure looked like a ploy. Good to see Big Ed back as well and lock in with the Berrinator on that edge.

TMM has more rust than the Mangakino Gnome sitting in my back paddock. Hopefully that 2nd run is enough to shake it off and he will be good to go next week. Barnett back to his bruising self but thought Nuikore was a bit quiet.

Curran MoM

Can't wait for the Panthers

Wasnt really surprised by the result and tbh the result was never going to be a biggie for me, take out your entire spine (including your on field general), your alpha forward, your captain, and your strike outside back, hence why a number of us went the Phins in the old tipping comp before it went down.

Right move by Webby? I still think it probably was. I guess the question will be how much (if any) of our momentum and confidence it affects......im picking not too much, once all our leaders are back on deck they'll drive that team where it needs to be.

Dont think any of the newbies were poor by any stretch but hopefully that highlights the gap between grades to escpecially those that wax lyrically about certain youngsters that its no given that their talents are automatically going to transfer to be first grade ready out of the block....some may kick on but a lot wont.

Anyway top 4 is such a huge incredible acheivement for our club, we've given ourselves the best chance with that extra life. Panthers are the Everest of challengers but damn......just imagine if we could go over there and knock those bastards off?

Bang on. Individually there were some decent performances but just so clunky and out of sync which the Phins offloading style of play troubled us with.

Those vets coming back in won’t give a shit about that one.

That’s the best analogy I’ve heard in a long time! Well done!!

A few comments:

- we lost due to a physical size disparity rather than a skill/ experience problem. The Dolphins had a massive man on man physical advantage and monstered us. Our team was young but also still physically developing and we were steamrolled.
- our smaller first grade players were exposed with the middle not on parity - Sironen, TMM, Berry, etc
- I don’t think we were mentally up for it. Our first graders were making uncharacteristic mistakes and their heads didn’t seem in it. Nothing to play for.
- AFB is crucial for the finals but also next years success rests on him staying fit. Fan of Bunty and Barnett but they are not first grade starting props. Ale does a lot of good stuff but is to small for a prop and doesn’t have a physical presence. I really fear we have too much riding on AFB next year. Still few we are one more starting prop short.
- Montoya seemed to be returning to his best.
- Dolphins were physically dominant but their halves lacked cohesion. So many balls to ground. We were lucky they lacked finesse or it could have got ugly.
- refs… enough said. Ugly game with forward passes and dropped balls everywhere played on. Low quality game.
- I hope Webby has the resting call right. We have lacked form for the past month and if we go out in straight sets we will regret not building combinations and form in this game.
- despite all that, happy for the Dolphins. They have great support and have had a decent first year. Good journeyman side to build on into the future.

Dolphins wanted it way more. I’m not concerned by our B team getting beaten by a full strength team in a mission in a dead rubber game.

TMM will be way better with more support. He was trying to create stuff as no one else was and some of it got forced. He actually had some really good touches though.

Walker is not a starter.

It was never going to be pretty with all of our spine out + our 2 best middles.

Flush that result and onto the finals!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with the size disparity. The fact we had Sironen subbing on for Bunty and Going on for Barnett was crazy.
I think Barnett can make a fist of being a first grade prop, and has this season. He just needs AFB and/or another alpha big man with him.

I thought that the game showed how small the difference is between places 3 to 10 or even 12. A full strength Dolphins against an under powered Warriors was only going one way.
We would have won with our regular team but I don't think it would have been a spanking. Just a few key players out makes such a change in strategy and confidence.
Nice to see the new guys and TMM and Kosi back. Curran tried so hard. In fact they all did.
Everybody back and rested next week. I'm so pumped for finals!!!

This what rust looks like

TMM:
3 runs 21m
6 errors - 3 handling
5 missed/ineffective tackles
Ptd speed 6.7 seconds 😮

Not sure how he’s supposed to jump straight into finals footy against the reining prems so underdone.

Cleary and the Panthers are going to exploit this weakness …

That's a weird time for PTB, I wonder if that's correct. Just out of curiousity, I looked at all of the games so far this week and last week and no one's ptb speed is within a second of TMM, Jayden Nikorima.

volkman at 6? Man, we'd better hope TMM and SJ fire

Maybe he was trying too hard - whatever the excuse he did
nothing to suggest he’s ready for first grade ..
Yeah his option taking and kick variation was below par. He did a couple of good things but aside from that was not up to it
