Pick Your Team Manly v Warriors - [Round 27, 2025]

Run the nsw cup team. We’re finishing 6th. Storm and bulldogs will rest their teams so we’re very unlikely to beat manly and bust into the 4. Unless NSW cup are playing next week it’s a good reward for that team. Keep berry and Boyd TMM and a few of the forwards in, but give our players a rest and let’s get up for the Panthers or roosters at home.

As I understand it, the NSW Cup team gets a bye next week (finishing first in a 5 team finals series... such a weird finals structure).

I wonder how this will factor into Webby's decisions for the team against Manly - are the schoolboy errors due to fatigue or do we need to get the win for confidence heading into Week 1 of the Finals? If he decides to rest players like 2023, then it could mean debuts for the likes of Fatialofa and swansongs for Ale and Bunty.

If Sharks and Broncos win their games. I'd do a Penrith and rest the whole squad. As next week Melbourne and Bulldogs most likely rest theirs. Broncos and Sharks wont if they're competing for 4th.
We might actually win then. Then we’ll have a conundrum, even if we go up to manly with a b grade side and flog them, guarantee the team list will be the exact same as it was v eels

Caps, Clark, CNK and Egan can have a rest

The rest of the team need to use the game practicing offloading and offloading and offloading …

So we all good with resting players now?

After the universal outrage on here when Ivan did it, thought it was a big no no?

I'd be expecting the ones who were very vocal about it to be calling out our club for this "disgraceful practice" if we do go that route.

Yeah right ;)
I’m not happy with it. I condemned it in 23 and will again if we do it.

Build combinations. We come back after a bye playing worse.

The TAB already has the sharks at $1.30 and the bulldogs $3.30 for next weeks game. Which is a clear indication they think the Dogs are going to rest a bunch of players.

Raider almost certainly will rest some. And Melbourne.
(Technically, there’s a chance that the dogs can jump Melbourne. But they need Brisbane to smash Melbourne and they need to smash Cronulla)

Cronulla and Brisbane are definitely going full strength.

We should rest at least a handful of players.
Our TAB odds aren’t out yet, which tells me the TAB isn’t sure which way we are going to go.

(Personally I’m thinking about jumping on that $3.30, just in case Ciraldo decides his boys need a hard run before finals.)

No odds for Panthers/Drags or Broncos/Storm or Warriors /Manly either.Must be expecting something

Yeah Melbourne is the funny one. I think they’ll rest Munster and Pape. Maybe a couple of their forwards.

Apparently Hughes wants to play and Grant and Katoa didn’t play this week so should be rested. Brisbane are absolutely going 100%.

BTW, I’m not suggesting we rest everyone lol. I’d rest JFH, Clark definitely. Maybe even Halasima.
I’d ask CHT, RTS and CNK how they feel.
I would rest Egan as well but I think he’s already out anyway.

Boyd needs the reps and it doesn’t hurt to have TMM have a run in the halves. Could be an excellent opportunity to give some up and comers a “reward” for their NSW cup form.

Interesting TLT coming up for sure.
Bookies will be busy. 😉

We’re not in a position to rest players. We lack partnerships particularly in the spine, with this week the only time all year we’ve been able to roll out the same 17. We’re still chasing an 80 min performance, win or loss, so we’re not in a position to rest players. Unless there’s a player with a Niggly injury, I’d be rolling out the same 17, and trying to get that 80 min performance going into finals.

I haven't changed my mind.

Same reasons, we need game minutes to sort ourselves out. I noticed of late that we have been given licence by the coach to give the ball a little air (I am not talking about when we were chasing the scoreboard against the Eels).

Seems Webster restricts free play until the team have put together enough games in a row that show they are following the game plan, then he takes the brakes off.

Saw this earlier in the season with Metcalf, restrictions till him and CHT were gelling with the game plan, same thing in 2023 when we were rolling well.

Opening minutes vs the Eels we popped a few balls.

Then there was the period vs the Eels where we chased the game and really went for it. I would like us to have a go vs Manly.

Thought Tanah Boyd probably used Halasima most effectively out of our halves so far in this one. Nice ball to put him through and a kick that looked like it’d gone too far but Halasima made something of it. Halasima has an amazing knack of just out competing whoever he’s up against. Vaimauga was asked during the week in some footage of the first time he saw Halasima and he had this story of a schoolboy game and Halasima taking a kick from the sideline to win the game. The accolades are going to come thick and fast now with these sorts of questions. Hopefully he stays grounded and teammates don’t get their nose out of joint for all the attention he’s getting
