Why is your theory so much more on the money than everyone else’s? Do you have a relationship to people at the club or Metcalf to know this is exactly how it went down?
Because its logical and makes sense. As someone said Occums Razor.

Even Webby confirmed it the other day. Metcalf wants to be the 7, he wants to be the guy to lead the team around. That was blocked at the Warriors.

Man crazy to think your sign with the current basket case club, just to get that 7.
Rather than probably fight it out for 6/7 or play Reggie's like I get it he's 27.
Still tough call.

Could be eh.

I was thinking about the partners when someone was talking about how they thought Tanah Boyd would be [paraphrasing] 'happy to take a small upgrade and carry on'.

Like fook that would ever happen. Especially since Tanah's wife was a rising star AFL player before injury ended her career (and has a young boy to raise).

The Boyd's know the realities of pro sport better than most at the Warriors. I am sure his wife Jacqui would have talked with Tanah about how he has progressed under this club and how he is doing mentally and emotionally since getting away from Australia. She certainly would be an informed listener regarding variables like coaching and environments (having been a rising junior netball star who switched codes and played under multiple coaches as a professional - Mrs Boyd played for three different AFL clubs).

Understandable if Lukes Lady wanted to go home, but surely compassionate release would have been a much smoother path to getting out? I dunno, haven't really thought about it too much.

Mr's Boyd is probably main reason Tanah moved overseas (she moved to South Australia from QLD to play) I am guessing she is a powerful ally in how Boyd got here and decided to stay in NSW cup when an NRL offer was the alternative.
Yes Sup42
Must be a lot of emotions been going on in his head with wife and her family in
Australia and it hasn't played out well at least in the minds of the fans
On top of that he has the frustration of his never-ending injuries.
Professional sports can be a ruthless occupation

Just think it’s the epitome of blowing your load too early on Boyd for half a good seasons showing in a contract year which often brings out peoples best form mysteriously. Taking nothing away from Boyd’s form but everyone from the league world says Metcalf is the one they’d build around rather than just a fan like myself. Injuries obviously were a barrier but that didn’t deter in the contract negotiations last time and surely a thorough medical done at that time. If the club are all in on Boyd, I back them 100% but I can’t say I don’t have reservations for reasons I’ve stated in the past. He deserves everything that’s coming his way but another competition starts at finals time with far greater pressures so I’m hoping he takes it all in his stride

I am certain Webby didn't want to make that call so early but his hand was forced.

But yea we won't find out until finals time or even next season when Luke is at the Dragons if we got the better 7 or not. An ace up our sleeve is having Jett in reserve grade who MAY end up being better than both of them.

Just spitballing but how do we know Metcalf didn’t play hardball end of last year and we paid a lot more than we wanted to. We backed the man and then got stubbornness around his role and importance?
