NRL Ladder Predictions 2025

For this year I have us bottom 3. Slow backline, mid tier pack and a weak spine. I have this bad feeling that Boyd will be picked for his ability to kick to the corners where we will see Berry and DWZ run to but not compete for the ball. This will be done on the back of one off running from tackle 1 to 5. Fuck I hope I am wrong but just not feeling it for this years team.

Mid tier pack? I dunno, I feel that the last 2 years we've shown that were one of the top packs out there.

Obvs have lost Tohu and Addin now but the last 2 years our forwards have been beasts and apart from maybe 3 or 4 games, have dominated or matched it with every other pack in the comp imo.

To be honest tho, after the top few teams (Panthers and Storm) I feel the next 10 or 12 teams have the ability to make the 8, it just comes down to injuries, form, and a bit of luck. Maybe a call or two going your way from the refs, which we all know we are loooong overdue for.

We've got a team that's good enough to make top 4, however if the cards don't fall our way (and they usually don't) we also have a team that's bad enough to make the bottom 4.

Either way I'm psyched, lets go!

If AW sticks to the conservative 2nd row and bench as well, I can see that playing out.

Mid tier pack? Please explain…

My glass is half full.

Top 4.

We seldom had anywhere close to the best of SJ, Tohu, CNK or Niukore last year.
SJ and Tohu have gone.

CNK has players IMO at least his equal challenging him.

Niukore was injury plagued and wrongly used as an edge when available.

So apart from the loss of AFB I don’t think we are any worse off.
Countered by;

To some degree by the signing of JFH.

The depth signings of Clark and Boyd who have plenty of first grade under their belt.
The signing of Healey.

And the continued progression of our young guns Ali, Demetric, Leka and Laban.

TMM was a try assist freak without SJ.
Metcalf was looking likely.

Whoever partners Ali in the centres will be decent.

Roger probably to wing.

Finally a proper development programme from Harold Matt’s upwards.

A lot to like.

With Ford, Bunty, Ale CHT as possible options or back up we are not badly off.

Pasikala, Eddie I-T, Zyon Maiu’u, Kali developing amongst others.

Webby needs to look at the Panthers and Dolphins wins in 2024 for the kind of variety and randomness of game plan for this squad to employ.
We have to be innovative to suit the strength of our players.
Just trying to copy the Storm or Panthers is not the go.
I’m not calling for Jungle ball.
I’m calling for Webster ball.
2024 was his year of conservatism.

We haven’t fallen into the trap of buying any experienced but past their best players or any morons like Brandon Smith.

And have many of the other teams really strengthened their rosters much if at all.
Just musical chairs to me.

I've seen a lot of people mentioning the Penrith win and after rewatching it I thought Penrith lost it more than we won it. They made a fair few uncharacteristic mistakes that game.

Bottom 4 for sure. Rebuild year - we’ve lost three influential seniors in SJ, AFB & Tohu.

Will be a fun watch, hopefully we’re competitive enough to avoid the spoon which I’m sure we will be.

Yeah bottom 5 for me teams too old no speed. Webbys a great coach but most of the cattle hes got needs to be put out to pasture. Got his hands tied with player contracts which is a problem. Oh well just have to grin and bear it for another season...

We need a small improvement in attack and a big improvement in defence which I think will come after 2024 gave us a kick in the ass.

I think three, maybe four teams drop out of the 8 from last season. They probably will be Cowboys, Roosters and Knights. It wouldn't surprise me to see the other being either of the Dogs or Sea Eagles but I think they'll make it.

So who replaces them?

I think the Broncos are one, I think we are one, and I think there are a number of teams fighting for the other one or two places. I'm going for the Bennet effect. With Titans not far off either.

Sharks
Storm
Broncos
Panthers
Warriors
Dogs
Manly.
Bunnies

Spoon I'm giving to the Eels.

What avatar and for how long?
If the tigers get the spoon you use a tigers themed avatar of my choice, if the eels win, I sport an eels themed avatar of your choice.

Until the grand final?

If neither team takes out the spoon the forum can choose a spoon winners themed avatar for both of us!

Open for anyone else to come into the bet if they think another team will take out the spoon?
