DCE Reynolds come to mind.27 next year. Some want to wait till he's 34 to come right lol.
See out this year. If he's still mud. Later bo.
Then Foran and Chad. Do you remember any others

A few mixed opinions there in one paragraph. Sure Luke is not a Cleary but we don't have that kind of luxury. We won those games off the back of Egan's creativity & CHT's hard work. CHT doesn't have the skills or speed of Metcalf. But he makes up for it with determination.
And yes, We probably lose them if Metcalf isn't there to convert those tries. We are giving to much credit to Metcalf and not enough to Chanel & Egan
Chad??? I'll skip him. Cherry's been killing it since he was young & so was Foran. Metcalf still trying to find his feet at 26 years of age.DCE Reynolds come to mind.
Then Foran and Chad. Do you remember any others
Dumb argument but who's to say Luke won't be killing it at 34.Chad??? I'll skip him. Cherry's been killing it since he was young & so was Foran. Metcalf still trying to find his feet at 26 years of age.
Great stats but the guys beneath Luke have in general played much fewer games than LukeThis is the try assist stats this year, which seems to be a good rough indication of a halfs ability. Going by this, is it a pass so far?
Reynolds (Broncos) 5 try assists
Cleary (Lowly Panthers) 5 assists
Fogarty (Raiders) 5 assists
Hughes (Storm) 4 try assists
Hynes (Sharks) 4 assists
DCE (Manly) 3 assists
Katoa (Dolphins) 3 assists
Sullivan (South’s) 2 assists
Llias (Dragons) 2 assists
Sexton (Bulldogs) 2 assists
Metcalf (Warriors) 2 assists
Hawkins (Eels) 1 assist
Campbell (Titans) 1 assist
Clifford (Cows) 1 assist
Luai (Tigers) 0 assists
Savala (Roosters) 0 assists
Crossland (Knights) 0 assists
And predominantly lower on the ladderGreat stats but the guys beneath Luke have in general played much fewer games than Luke
Maybe we could try to poach that Cleary guy from the team batting for a wooden spoon?Great stats but the guys beneath Luke have in general played much fewer games than Luke
Also 2 out of 5 games puts him on pace for 9.6 assists over the whole season which is underwhelming.
Fogarty? Hughes only became halfback at 25. Keary at age 29.... Come on.Chad??? I'll skip him. Cherry's been killing it since he was young & so was Foran. Metcalf still trying to find his feet at 26 years of age.
Or the mid 30 year olds looking for 2/3 year extensions for 1 million + bucks .Maybe we could try to poach that Cleary guy from the team batting for a wooden spoon?
Hughes was already a gun swapping between FB & HB. Fogarty had the basics on lock. Keary had the footy nous already.Fogarty? Hughes only became halfback at 25. Keary at age
Luke has had some bad luck with injury and hopefully he is over the bad luck.My view at this stage which will change game to game as more data comes to hand is
a) He will improve though so let's give him the whole season - the worst that can happen is we finish in a spot like last year.
b) Tannah Boyd or TMM wouldn't do much better anyway. Except for Tannah's goal kicking mind you. TMM is not dominating NSW cup and neither is Boyd. Both of them are strong players and will get a chance anyway as Luke is made of glass and will get injured at some point.
Metcalf and DCE for top try scores when it comes to the halfs. Both at 3.This is the try assist stats this year, which seems to be a good rough indication of a halfs ability. Going by this, is it a pass so far?

So both Metcalf and Laui started their halfback careers this year. This is the try assist stats this year, which seems to be a good rough indication of a halfs ability. Going by this, is it a pass so far?

As a 7 he should really be judged on TAs and LBAs - Tries are good too but not really the corner stone of what he should be contributing. I know that you know that and thanks for your stat. Overall 3 tires and two TAs in 5 games stacks up pretty good.Metcalf and DCE for top try scores when it comes to the halfs. Both at 3.
Think you are right about the Luke 6 7 thing and always have.Hughes was already a gun swapping between FB & HB. Fogarty had the basics on lock. Keary had the footy nous already.
Metcalf is only a year younger than Cleary!!
How long do we wait ? He is a running 6. Not a organising , playmaking 7. We can keep on painting him as one , But the paint will eventually wear off.
You can be happy with a mediocre halves pairing and coming 12th every year until he comes right ? Not I!
Hes not a flash superstar guy for us. But he's hanging in there and putting in the mahi is Chanel.Well well well I have a stat which will blow your collective hair back
Luke Metcalf 2 Try assists and Not in top 50 for LBAS and 3 Tries
Chanel 4 try assists and 3 LBAS and 2 Tries
