General Is the Metcalf experience to halves over?

Pretty much this. What we are seeing from LM is what we saw from him at 6. He isn't the main man as much as he talks about it. If he was playing 7 for another side we were coming up against I think we would be dismissing him.

Our best organiser with the best kicking game and goal kicking is playing 7 in cup. Our most creative half and best playmaker is playing 6 in cup.

It's not going to change though unless injury enforced.
And why should it change.
Up until today things were going well.
Putting TMM to 6 or 7 or even 1 wouldn't have changed the result regardless of how much you think

Nah it is fair to be questioned and Metcalf himself said he wants that level of pressure.
Now interesting that people have the most amount of questions and pressure here over our 2nd rowers or how we've shuffles and reshuffled our backline is a bit odd. But people have always gotten into halves over any other position.
But still good to hear differing opinions.

Don’t think he played any better or worse than his last 3 outings when we won so clearly the loss is a subconscious bias against him.

Although losing the ball in the red zone at the start was all him……

Oh nah you're preaching to the choir here. I'll back him pretty heavily as I think this is a building year and he is a rookie through and through via NRL games played. So I think he'll be a great half. Plays like early Hughes and is hopefully just like him and fogerty, bearly played any NRL games until they got older then kicked on after a while. (Fogerty only played his 100th yesterday and he's 31 or 32). I also think the mistake was bad but a good sign. Risky run first play that nearly got a try, I think every half in the game makes a mistake like that in a game.

This is the point. It's how is his performance. No one is saying the Storm loss is all on him, likewise that the previous wins are all on him. Many think that as a seven he isn't cutting it so far which is probably a fair summation at the moment

If any clear knocks it’d be the goal kicking lol, way off today

Also wondering when he will put in good grubbers, even Egan did a good one today

If Fish is out for a while and our D crumbles like last year, he will be under a lot of pressure regardless if it’s actually his fault or not

He is the best halfback at the club.

Giving old mate TMM the gig to be the invisible man, and then him later announcing he is going to leave for SL a few weeks later would be the most warrior thing to do.

If they give TMM the gig then it's more than likely they resign him don't you think? Regardless of that I think Boyd fits the seven role better for what AW is looking for.

My understanding is that Metcalf went to/said to/in his post season meeting said/indicated to Webster he wanted to be a 7.
At that point Webster had no ability to say no or he risked Metcalf going back to Australia soon.
We have Metcalf at 7 either
a) Until Metcalf changes his mind
b) Our losing record is horrendous and the change screams out so much to be made that Luke accepts being made a 6.

Metcalfe’s an average 7 and better at 6. He’s a decent kicker

We have no choice at the moment but to persevere and hope, with good mentoring, he can be a better than average 7. He can be the crappest 7 in the comp, but if we are in the 8, he can stay

We have Stacey Jones working with him. And Stacey in his day did not play how Metcalf is playing. Jones dug deep into the line and played at pace. He was superb. Metcalf has his own ideas or simply isn't listening. Or a third explanation he is confused as he is so new. Let's hope it is that one.

We won those games off the back of Egan's creativity & CHT's hard work. CHT doesn't have the skills or speed of Metcalf. But he makes up for it with determination.
And yes, We probably lose them if Metcalf isn't there to convert those tries. We are giving to much credit to Metcalf and not enough to Chanel & Egan
