Well we won. Somehow.
I loved our defence.
But we were lucky. I felt for the Dolphins tonight after having 29 seasons of shit refereeing going against us. I know how they feel. They didn't help themselves either with their attack.
I'm pleased for the boys. 5 in a row and the best win record ever
Before the game I was a bit worried about their attack. Both of their halves can create opportunities. The Hammer is great at taking opportunities.
A lot of tonight's game their attack wasn't great. Some of that can be put that down to our defence.
It would have been easier if we played the early rounds Dolphins that were turning over a lot of ball. They did well in the grind early on. I thought they shut down some of our key players early on. Clark for example. But a credit to how well he is playing he may have been contained well early but he got better as the game went on.
People are seriously overblowing any ref advantage. The second half was absurd. A missed knock on is not that huge in the scheme of things. Just look at Cotter not getting binned.
Apart from a couple of bad D reads after JFH came off what a great game especially because we managed some points in the 2nd half.
Also doesn't look like we had many injuries either? Apart from haleasinas Hia.
It Does look like we're building something great here the way Tss came on it looked like he'd been in the team structure for a number of years grabs the ball the moment he's subbed.
Strong games from everyone really Capewell clarke jfh Barnett Allgood.
Felt we had that win wrapped up but shit they made it hard. Attack will click but the defence has been pretty impressive. The 6 agains and penalties really swing things, take away the dumb late infringements and things would have been easier
Pretty funny to see the two former Penrith assistants sitting outright 1st and 2nd on the table while utilising the Penrith ‘meta’ style game plan, meanwhile they’re in the trenches. Dogs halves have had a couple of years together hence why their attack is a bit more polished than ours.
Like I said. Just calling it how I see it. I'm not the only one that thinks our attack is lacking, despite our dominance in our forwards and nearly every other stat. And I don't dislike Metcalf, he is a good player, he's just playing the wrong position.
Probably time to get the blinkers off mate. Any rhetoric that Metcalf is out of position is hard to defend. I was of the same opinion as you early in the year but he is doing everything you want from a developing half.
I can't fault him and I don't think our attack is that bad either...
