This was one of the all-time games of rugby league. Huge. Tanah with the nutmeg. Ali the monster. Leka with spiders on him. Jacko being an unreal competitor. Such a good game. A+ Have a fantastic Wahs Winning Weekend whanau wear that shit proud out in the motu.

What's up with nrl.com.... eight articles about the bunnies/roosters game.... slience on warriors/raiders.

And then have a look at the nrl table..... haven't loaded the warriors score but have the bunnies and roosters. Perhaps they don't want to admit the Warriors are currently leading the table...

Noticed that myself. It must hurt to see the Warriors sitting on the top of the table

That was one of my favourite ever Warriors games. I was so frustrated in the first half with how dirty the Raiders were being, but to see our resilience to turn the other cheek and match them physically was amazing - then to come out in the second half and just straight up big dick a pack like the Raiders have. It’s a great feeling.

Tapine is such a cat, dislike him more every time I see him play - although I love our long running battle with Horsborough, he’s a good person to like to hate.

Ok just finished watching the replay

6-6 at HT

34-0 second half

That’s a beat down . A totally dominant performance against last years premiers 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

Outstanding performance overall

Only think I didnt like was the crowd taking the piss out of the Viking clap.

Walters on Fox: that crowd, how many points were they worth

Cronk: 34 points

😂😂

@Inruin you said the club is ruthless this year, man how about the CEO throwing back cry baby and mana waves ON THE GROUND plus the viking clap 😂😂

Maybe they hired AFC psychologists the way they troll Phoenix unprovoked 😂

Hate to make the connection, but 2018 started with a refereeing crackdown in certain areas and us getting away to a flyer as a result. The crackdown ended and we faded. Hope this year is different!

It’s a young fit man’s games with the new “rules” which is why Ford has absolutely killed it the last two rounds.

Your big bulky unfit forwards won’t be able to keep up with the pace of the game and losing a AFB may end up being one ☝️ f the best decisions we have made.

I’m also fine with Barney walking. At 32 I see this as his last real year. The game has become too fast for ageing props.

TSS, Demetric, Laban, Leka all 21-22 yr olds are taking over which is unbelievable to watch.

Absolutely 💯

I noticed with both games, the ref looked far less annoyed talking to JFH than Teddy and Tapine.

Pays to pick your moments, I guess?
Yes I guess James would be a scary prospect for any ref to deal with
Dunno boys. I reckon it's more about reading the refs and building:

1. Rapport in knowing when and how to communicate with them.

2. Rapport in knowing when to take their directions without issue and apply your game plan within those parameters.

3. There was an article and I'll post it if I can find it again that reminded teams of when you are allowed to speak with the refs. From memory it was when angry has been scored. During an injury stoppage or at half time.

Let’s remind the NRL it goes both ways

Some refs act like narcissistic cunts who treat players with absolute disrespect themselves

remind the players to be respectful not just to the refs, but to the opposition and each other. Remind them there are small kids in the crowd hearing every word you say. Hearing F bombs and sledging each other while a impressionable 7 yr old watches on the side line is not cool

Remind the ref - don’t act like some entitled school teacher talking down to players. Respect goes both ways.

✌️

Culture and standards > pathways and chances > RUTHLESS > Premiership/s

We are in the ruthless stage. It's only a matter of time until we move to the next stage. The first two stages had to be completed before getting to where we are now for sustained success.

I went to the Sydney Morning Herald Nrl section cos I'm gobbling all the Warriors content I can get my hands on and there wasn't even a match summary

Devils advocate. Is there a point where we discuss durability?

Obviously, Tanah is an unknown variable in this area, so there's not enough info to make a decent conclusion. But Metcalf has had a pretty rough injury record (three season enders in a row).

Before we do the usual overreaction pile on, chill. I want Metcalf as our 7. I just wonder if we're always going to have one eye on his backup, so long as he is playing here

He's a bit of a 'glass cannon', so to speak.

I don't really have an emotional attachment to any of them CHT/Metcalf/Boyd - I mean I like all three guys, heck I like all of our players, but I do not feel a fondness for one say over another.

Quite honestly I do not give a shit who plays where. If Webster turns Metcalf and CHT into premiership winners then I want that combo.

But here is the thing, if the Warriors backline was largely dependent on Metcalfs individual brilliance as a dynamic SJ style 7 (hey that's great) and CHT playing a foil (and doing so admirably)......why couldn't those two put forty points on Competition heavy weights back to back? (and yes the Roosters played a terrible game of ill discipline, but a week later we now know that "Yes the Warriors are the real deal").

The reason is that Metcalf and CHT as a combo do not construct side line to side line width of the park football - when compared with Boyd and CHT - Boyd and Egan - Boyd and CNK....Boyd and the ball boy.....is Boyd.

So what is Boyd doing that has changed our attack (I have already gone on enough someone can add more layers) but a crucial part of it is he and Egan have forwards coming onto good ball and Boyd is using a lot passing in a very conventional, traditional distributors fashion (just saying here that he uses easy to read short passes for his hole runners or he goes out the back with a simple pass).

And the other thing is his timing, he runs onto the pass, meaning he stands a little deep, runs straight at the passing lane then lets the ball go early, rather than drifting like a speed guy like Metcalf or SJ will tend to do while also often catching the ball standing flat footed, Boyd will just go a couple or three steps direct and let it go - now every traditional half back does this right? there is nothing special in it...nothing Xfactor or fancy...but that is EXACTLY why we are seeing 40 pointers, because our guys all grew up running off standard simple organizers, not "shit what is he gonna do now" type halfbacks.

And so you see all our players coming into play, you see ball movement, no round 1-6 clunkiness.

And Boyd even does this with his kicking game, he set up the simplest cleanest grubber for Leka specifically, rather than try get an rolling end on end unpredictable 'bouncer' or a typical diagonal angle changing grubber aimed towards the post - and look at his kicks to the edges in the air, they are not for one player, they are low, slow, easy to tap back by anyone (distance is key he kicks short of the line meaning our guys can compete and create second phase whereas convention tells you you should put it on the try line for a catch and score).

Convention, consistency, stability the hallmarks of a lead playmaker. Hey lets not forget these high scoring Warriors are the same backline that everyone lamented for three seasons as not being good enough "where are our points coming from" "CNK is too Vanilla" "we lack speed"

I went on a rant lets cut the fat, the waffle and bullshit and ask ourselves, if you were picking a premiership winning combo out of our options does Metcalf and CHT leap out at you as this is it? this is our year?

Does Tanah Boyd and Metcalf?.........maybe.....

I think we think similarly about the stuff above this, in your post.

The short answer to this is; sporting legends are made. Point and case; no body in the Aussie media gave a shit about Tanah, until last week.

So I put little value on name alone.

What sounds like a halves pairing for a grand final? Whatever halves pairing gets us there.

Tanah Boyd could be in that mix.
Luke Metcalf could be in that mix.
CHT could be in that mix.

Who knows? It looks like everyone can play everyone else's position anyway, so for all we know Jackson Ford might get put into 7 ? (I'm joking, of course)

Well we do have the metrics of All CHT and Metcalfs games and how when we faced the big boys in the top four they fkd us over without even an introduction...just straight bend over and take it....and lets be honest....there is no way that Metcalf and CHT sides looked even close to Penrith, Brisbane, or Melbourne.

This current style of play orchestrated by Boyd actually looks like we could go toe to toe vs the real teams you have to beat to get into that Premiership window.

We saw Boyd in the finals last year.

This is the big question for me.

Is Tanahs style of play and organisation better for the team as a whole?

There's every possibility that Metcalf comes back and looks infinitely better, as he's a high skill player.

It all depends on synergy. This is a team sport, after all.

Was there anything in the end about the two shoulders that Tapine put into our players. Shit last year if we did that, we would have been binned or worse. Seems like the crack down is no longer? Concussions don't happen in 2026?

Anyways good win but some interesting decisions.

Just wondering what for you does infinitely better than putting 40 on the Roosters and Raiders look like?
