I'm not 100% convinced CHT would drop out. When he's conscious CHT is a much better defender than Metcalfe or Boyd, and we know Webby is a defence first coach. Secondly neither Metcalfe or Boyd would have spent much time at 6 in the preseason..

Lastly we're a compassionate grounds club, we could lose any Aussie player due to family stuff, where as CHT is at home now

Imo Boyd probably goes back to cup.
If Boyd was sent back to Cup you can be assured that other clubs will be knocking on his door with shitloads of money especially expansion clubs. They are probably lining up already

what about when tanwah kicked his 20/20 and Weeks ran after it and then looked like he was about to spew from exhaustion, like he was Konrad Hurrell in 2012.

and the raiders are known for being pretty fit and rugged, we're on the penrith super serum, two teams just haven't been able to cope with the energy levels.

very long season though, is it even possible to maintain this, however penrith had years where they just led from wire to wire, soooo.....

Interesting watching Ali at the game, after that first try i was thinking what a big mistake it was leaving him in after last week despite the lack of options, then he just seemed to switch on and was putting in effort in defence off the ball, getting more involved etc.
Dude is an enigma, reminds me so much of Kevin iro, big strong talented but can just switch off and be a liability then switch on and change a game.
How Webby can find the remote and keep him on for 80 or Ali can find it in himself to focus that talent.

Look we might get there, but on form Metcalfe comes in for neither Boyd or CHT on form. Can we not pretend CHT didn't have a blinder last week? Two tries, silky ball to Capewell, defending like a champ as always.

I take your point, yes I agree CHT is in great form (probably been up there a while too including Rep footy for Samoa).

But it also comes down to the balance of the side.

Boyd is the best organizer and territory getter, not withstanding that Metcalf made massive gains in those areas last year, but Boyd is a specialist in his dna.

All machinations should start there, how do the Warriors win the battle of attrition, since that is the area we were weak on pre Webster - you stick a long kicker in your halves before you do anything else. How do you unlock the attacking problems under Webster,? you put a play at the line ( and compulsive draw and passer) who has an aerial game in his chip kicks and ground game off his grubbers.

That matrix of Seven skills puts the opposition in two minds while your backs and forwards enjoy attacking 'advantage line' ball that is easy to predict, easy to run onto, easy to catch and pass coz Tanah has bought time with his up and in attack of the line.

After that...it is who plays six. Tanner is a handy little hole runner with a little bit of toe, but he is no Metcalf off the mark, and neither is CHT.....on paper you plan to have the fast guy off the shoulder of the conductor...it is premiership winning Rugby League 101.

Which is also why Taine should probably replace Charnze this year (again like CHT he doesn't deserve to miss out, so you roster him in another position, if he can play a crude six I do not want to read these lazy arbitrary dismissals of CNK as a Center option, of course he can bloody play there and instantly be better than Ali).

Really happy with our discipline, wet weather footy with little errors, not giving away many penalties and not getting sucked in to any oppositions grubby shit..
Must of had a great preseason as we look better prepared and organised.. And shit our boys are showing it too..
2 - zip to start the season is great, but its how we've done it, that impresses me... woohoo keep it up Wahs...

Devils advocate. Is there a point where we discuss durability?

Obviously, Tanah is an unknown variable in this area, so there's not enough info to make a decent conclusion. But Metcalf has had a pretty rough injury record (three season enders in a row).

Before we do the usual overreaction pile on, chill. I want Metcalf as our 7. I just wonder if we're always going to have one eye on his backup, so long as he is playing here

He's a bit of a 'glass cannon', so to speak.

What's up with nrl.com.... eight articles about the bunnies/roosters game.... slience on warriors/raiders.

And then have a look at the nrl table..... haven't loaded the warriors score but have the bunnies and roosters. Perhaps they don't want to admit the Warriors are currently leading the table...

I don't get what the changes are doing to the game, it goes both ways and if you lose the momentum you still have to defend and wrestle it back, which we've done twice in a row. I just know we don't lie all over their players and they seem to be all over ours all the time until we knock the door down literally.
Yes that's exactly it. When we are in tune to how the refs are reffing (because let's face it) some teams have zero respect or understanding about working with the refs and instead directly break rules to try to apply pressure. As you say we don't lie all over their players and get perhaps some non verbalised referee preferential treatment.

Yeah mate I was wondering about this treatment from the refs this morning
Be interesting to see how it works out when we are the away team.
Seems like we have had a pretty decent run with the 50/50s so far this year

Forgot to post this last night. But saw and caught up with Hudson Young, Josh Starling and Ethan Sanders pictured very badly here (not a photographer!). Canberra took the red eye out of NZ after the game last night too it seems. Couldn't locate Ricky unfortunately.

Really nice lads, admittedly to being banged up pretty badly after the game and wanting to head straight back to Canberra after the game. Wished them luck for the doggies match.
