Pick Your Team Brisbane Broncos v NZ Warriors - [Round 11, 2026]

Sheeze just saw the Broncos injury toll and its pretty nuts.

Haas - rd 14
Mozer - rd 13
Hunter- rd 14
Jensen tbc
Mariner tbc
Piakura tbc
Walter's tbc
Hoeter- rd 15
Wah-nderson - rd 16

Adam Reyno not playing next week.
Likely Staggs wont be there unless he gets kissed on the dick by the Judiciary.

On the flip side we will likely have ALL of our players available.

Wahs by plenty, unless 6 or 7 of those fuckers come back early from injury, and Walsh/Reyno go beast mode

Piakura lol he can get f***ed

I’ve been to the last 3 magic rounds and gutted I couldn’t make it this year as it will be the game of the round vs Broncos. One part of me is happy that we will be up against an understrength broncos, but on the other hand, beating them at full strength would mark us as true contenders this year.
I really don't think it matters. Their team without some big names have at times played better than their team with all big names present. Additionally, a win is all that matters... our march into the finals with a top 4 positioning and then beating whoever is before us for 3 games in a row.... full strength or not.

Wow, just reading up on this and it’s a car crash type impact injury that cuts the blood flow to the muscle and can sometimes mean the loss of the leg.

Lucky he’s in a professional sporting environment and will be operated on quickly but serious stuff and shows the forces of today’s game!
Cut off blood flow?

Sounds like compartment syndrome....will have to google.

Oh yes compartment syndrome.

Basically the bleed from the suspected cork or swelling from whatever fluids causes pressure because of the fascia (glad wrap looking shit you see on meat when you remove the fat layer) It is like a closed compartment (thus the name).

Anything (in this case muscle tissue and blood vessels, nerves too) get crushed by the forces involved in pressure build up in a confined space....so no oxygen can get through crushed blood vessels eh (the amputation risk because dead muscle tissue has to be removed) and the limb could end up paralyzed from the damage to muscle and or nerves.

You can die from it.

Operation is simple, cut the fascia and let that shit spray out.

I see he didn't get diagnosed at the time and went out again to play with it.

Problem with that, apart from more banging of the injury/more swelling with use and trauma is that the clock is ticking.

Madge mumbled some rubbish about 'he shouldn't have gone back out' but this is what these players want to do for each other' (what a crock of shit, read coach feels guilty and is blaming player for not say "no").

Why am I having Elise Katoa flashbacks here (admittedly corks are tricky, players usually go on with it unless it is a bad cork - and this is a fkn bad cork so...)

Broncos are falling down every day it seems. Mariner, Karapani, Staggs all probably out for magic round. And they still have one more match to go through before we get a crack at them:

Not that this changes the equation for us. This is still the toughest challenge of the season for us. I still remember the Napier catastrophe in 2023.

I am in two minds with the Ali vs Pompey option.

Which from my pov is surprising (I didn't think I would be weighing up in Ali's favor this soon).

So glad it is not me and it is Webster making that call.

I think I sway slightly in favor of Ali atm. Mainly because he might be at a critical turning point in his development finally and you don't want to lose that momentum.

The metric seems to be that Ali is the better attacker, Pompey the better defender. As Ali continues to improve as a defender the choice becomes a no brainer.

The rest of the team pick themselves.

Ali is definitely improving. A lot of upside.

Beating them with those crooked eyes touchies will do it for me

No other changes for this one other than Pompey in with RTS out. Berry is technically available for this based on the casualty ward, but he needs some runs in cup before he is even considered imo. Taine doesn't deserve to be dropped for this one. If you look at CNK's stats this year, his running metres aren't that different from Taines. So I really don't see the rationale right now to putting CNK back into the team.
