Judging by this article when Slade Griffin was promoted from nsw cup, it makes me wonder if Tangata-Toa is in line? When do our assistants contacts end?
This from the same article leads me to believe the club isn't interested in being top of the ladder, just focused on training. That has answered my qustion about why Webby was hiired. They knew he wasn't first grade ready. No wonder the players are spitting the dummy

“Our commitment as a club is to develop and promote coaches and players from within our system and Slade's appointment is the perfect example of that,” said One New Zealand Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden in a club statement.

So winning isn’t even in the top 2 priorities…

Think it’s more just wanting to promote knowing there’s a familiarity with the system the clubs wanting to implement, just like there’s a keenness to promote from within from a player aspect also. There’s a real similarity between the nsw cup team and the first grade team. The game yesterday the nsw cup got their victory in was much like many they won last year too in that the other team often is first to register points and we’re usually chasing the scoreboard. This is something that’s a usual occurrence in the first grade team too. I’ve got no idea why it’s the case but I feel like we somewhat try to preserve some energy, often having more impact in the second half, which unfortunately wasn’t the case in Las Vegas. I feel like Webster was and is an nrl ready coach, he’s more than served his apprenticeship and had success in his first season. The fact that Ivan Cleary was only too happy to send his son to be guided through by Webster should speak volumes. I can agree some aspects come across as odd at times, but I’d love to know his reasoning behind some of them being that he has first hand knowledge of his players and how they are preparing and training etc and the plan around recruitment

Jett Cleary came to Warriors because their focus is on development, it is out of the Panther limelight & Ivan knew Webster. I doubt Ivan seesett's first grade career as playing for the Warriors.

I’m fully on board with focusing on the internal growth and development of our pathways—it's absolutely necessary. However, I think we’re facing a few tough years ahead, starting with this one. As it stands, recruitment is nearly impossible. Just imagine how much harder it will be when two more teams join the competition, taking up another 60 top-30 players.

The reality is, we need to put in the hard work now to ensure the club remains competitive in the future. It’s important to start tempering our expectations for the time being. If we look at the current rosters, it’s clear we’re not in a position to win a premiership anytime soon. Our main focus should be on avoiding a bottom-four finish and building for the long term.

We’re in for a tough ride, but laying a solid foundation now will set us up for better results down the track.

Feel like it’s more than that with Luke Hanson here also and a familiarity between he and Jett Cleary. Seems like a combination that the club sees potential in? With Ivan willing to let JFH out of his contract early and Jett Cleary coming over, perhaps he sees himself coming onboard in the following years?

SJ(Shaun Johnson) to take over SJ(Stacey Jones) as assistant coach. Think that could be handy as a future head coach candidate being apart of the identity of the club and knowing what’s needed to succeed in the sped up version of the nrl we see today. Him with another experienced nrl coach as the other assistant to cover SJ’s inexperience would be handy. Sounds as though he’s the halves mentor or a role similar at the moment. I think you need to replace the assistants before replacing Webster
Shaun would undermine the coaches and will be used as a social media figure to distract from what’s happening on the field. This would set us back 5 years.

Could be, time will tell with Luke & the Cleary's. Ivan possibly had a replacement for JFH & the timing was right for Ivan to let him go. It would be great if Ivan did come back at some stage, possibly as Director of Football.
At least we know now why Webster is keeping Taine & the talented others safe from destruction. Just going to be hard to watch a weekly 1st grade display like Vegas for the next how many years.

Listening to his analysis when he’s on the panel for fox I think? He’s got a pretty good read on what’s working and what’s going wrong for the teams they’re discussing. Be interesting to see if he has a desire to coach? Would probably want him to take a younger team and work his way up if there’s something to work with and he gets results

We’ve seen enough games on occasions like Anzac games to know we notoriously don’t perform in these games to at least give it a couple games to see if there’s a response. Early season is often hard to get a read on the strength of oppositions to know how well they’ve prepared in the preseason and how well teams have performed and raiders are often strong starters to the season in round 1 games. We’ve seen seasons where we’ve had a slow start and a successful season in terms of making the top 8 but hard not to recognise some concerning aspects

What a BS attitude for the club to make.
And they expect us fans to follow them when they have no intention of trying to win the comp.

I can get on board with this, but we should then be playing the youngsters that are ready now.

Why not Ale, Halasima, and Laban?

Vaimauga and Leiataua are on thier way!

Need someone like Shaun for analysis and setting up strategies to combat other teams strike weapons.

Having watched his latest podcast Shuan comes across as a little immature…. I can understand now why he was never once given the Captain title
Perhaps not a leader in the captaincy sense, but seems like he was the catalyst for a good 2023 campaign and dragging a couple of games that looked dead and gone out of the fire in the last couple of years

These guys aren’t going to listen to SJ. When I say guys I mean the likes of Stacy, Webby and Caps. Behind closed doors. No chance. He’s not in the club yet

Sure he can do some PR stints to keep the fans happy
