Sharks vs Warriors - [Round 14, 2025]
GAME DAY
Saturday 7th June 7:30pm NZST

Warriors v Sharks 788.webp

Welcome to your NZWF game day thread for todays clash.

This thread will be locked following the final whistle with or without warning. Discussion will then be shifted to the POST MATCH thread.

UP THE WAHS!!!

This is a massive game now that the Cows, Dragons and eagles all lost. Beat the Sharks, and we go 6 clear of the chasing pack with a bye to come.

In the context of securing a top 4 place and with our run home, this game is absolutely huge.

A week after losing Skip, a result tonight would be the icing on an incredible first half of the season. To be 10-3 if we win would be a dream and a few banged up boys can get a week off to rest and recover.

I got nothing else to say. Just turn up, defend like beasts and take your chances.

Treat this like a prelim where there are no tomorrows. Great semis practice.

Let’s fkn go.

It's a 4pts game for the warriors will they take advantage, the sharks are not easy to beat at shark park.
Sharks are fresh off a bye so favour them slightly
Sharks 1-12
bunnies were fresh off a bye as well and we had just gotten out of a brutal match with Canberra. We all saw how "fresh" the broncos were last week coming off a bye. Sometimes instead of feeling rejuvenated, byes can make you a bit complacent. It might be better to keep rolling when you have the momentum like us and the Raiders do at the moment.

We are the kings of clutch, so I'm backing us in another tight one. I'm feeling an LM field goal to give us another magical win at shark park. Sharks have shit the bed in so many tight ones this year. Wahs 1-12.

A fair bit of press seems to be around whether we're a top four team without Mitch Barnett. I'd counter and say the team knows exactly what they need to do to be a top four team, Webby has instilled that. On any day it's not one player, it's 7 or 8 playing at 90 - 100% to get the team through and we will showcase whether we can do this consistently from now.

Mitch is a great loss, and as always the opportunity is for the professionalism and development of the squad to shine through.

Even a loss will highlight what needs working on (Melbourne type losses excluded), it's going to be another tough one, but mostly (65% of the time) I have every faith.

Sharks will try to run Iro at Capewah all day. Like the Broncos, Dragons, Dolphins before them, they probably think he is the weak link in our defensive system. Been hearing them talk a lot about Capewell's edge all week. Given the current uncertainties around QLD, another origin recall isn't out of the question if Capewah does another great job here. No one else is really putting their hand up for selection based on the games post origin I. So the old fella will have all motivation in the world to come up trumps for us again.

So long as we have one of Barney/JFH on the pitch, I think we are ok. We showed that by going 4-0 in JFH's absence when Barney was the sole captain. So long as JFH stays on the field for the rest of the season, I think we can handle Barney's loss and maintain our position in the 4. I'd be more worried if both were out for an extended time.

Based on current results it's hard to pick anything but Warriors 12 and under. Sharks will be looking at this as a must win so I don’t think it will be a certainty.
Halfway through the season. All we have to do is repeat the first half for a top 2 finish and a points differential of about plus 10 or 20 at the end.
Easy aye 😊

Hmmm massive underdogs here but you never know with our lot.

We did put away Manly, the Roosters, and the Broncos, so those are real clubs with real pedigree.

To be honest I would be happy with a respectable loss here, I know that is counterintuitive for many, but the way I see it, with Barnett out, you are gonna take a big hit and it may well take a game or three to adjust.

Ergo a competitive showing is more important in terms of the rest of this season than a win to hold a ladder position.

Looking forward to the NSW cup game today as well, wall to wall league.

As much as many have been concerned about AFB’s contribution, I hope we go after him. Clubs often know weaknesses of players that have played there and I think that’s probably why manly have limited his running metres most out of any team this year. Need to get numbers into the tackle with him and tie up the ball to limit offloads. Great forward pack at the sharks, defence will be massive in this one. Still a majority of a sharks team that will remember Warriors chasing them down with a big leads in a couple of games and will be a good test for us

We are primed for this game…
Mid season finals intensity once again….
The Raiders lose set the tone for this contest, so let’s see how our forwards up the ante with controlled aggressive defence….Meat Grinder Allday!!

Follow the FISH….
Let’s Eat-tha chups…..

I think Fish watched that Raiders game with a lot of regret. That sort of game is made for someone like him and I have no doubt that he wanted to be out there to settle a score with Tapine from Vegas. That bout will have to wait for the time being. AFB has a thing coming if he think he can just walk over us. Fish will make sure we're all over him this evening whenever he has the ball.
