Politics πŸ€‘ Donald Trump

Your entire monologue is based on whatever you make up to try and score points, or however you try and amuse yourself.

You can prove yourself wrong, it won't take long.
It's all been rather embarrassing hasn't it.
The logic is so flawed and typically all over the show.

It would've been much easier for the usual idiots to just say "yeah, that's fucked" about recent developments. The very small gesture seems beyond them which is telling,.

...Because the quality of life has improved on people who lived 100 years ago
We should all be burying our heads in the sand - ignore the worrying trajectory of where things are heading politically, allow civil liberties, human rights and common decency to be eroded.

100 Juju.

I get that we're seeing openly the destructive nature of the system that certain people are very invested in, that has openly turned to fascism and is actively eroding western democracy, and that that can be disheartening when it's the foundation that you're standing on.

But this is an easy moral choice. Or it should be.

I post article. You play the man not the topic with wild accusations you can’t back up.

This is the far left…

Any fool can see we’re 100% better off than 100 years ago just by comparing how we live to our grandparents πŸ˜‰

(And no, we’re not talking about Trump and the chaos in the USA this was a side conversation about immigration, NZ, the future of work and our overall system)

Nah, if you hzve 20 people 9 poor and 1 billionare then all 10 are well off. That is the logic.
It’s more about the advances in science and technology over the last 100 years.

Things like medicines, internet, mass production, ease of transports etc make the average person able to do what was unavailable even for the richest man on earth 100 years ago.

He’s saying the same argument about unaffordability was used against stopping slavery. We stopped slavery and everyone moved on.

NZ tried to stop immigration during covid and we suffered huge labour shortages, massive price increases and in the end the govt opened the flood gates again.

To ween off immigration needs to be a long slow planned process.
What are you doing in here, I thought this topic was irrelevant to you?

It’s increasingly clear that the administration has set unreasonable goals for deportations, which have had at least two highly deleterious impacts. First, the drive for numbers has led agents to pursue cases involving babies and grandmothers, instead of the dangerous criminals Trump has promised to get off the streets. Last December, the CATO Institute reported that only 5% of the people ICE detained had convictions for violent crimes and 73% had no convictions at all. Second, because the agency is apparently counting arrests, not actual deportations, agents seem to be arresting first and only subsequently checking to see if the detainee is an American citizen or someone who is otherwise permitted to remain in the country.

So in other words, the demographic we are talking about, illegal immigrants, 27% of them have criminal convictions?!? That’s a fucking insanely high rate of criminality and also ignoring the fact that illegally entering the USA is in of itself a crime.

Detained in an immigration facility? Or detained and then released like regular cops do?

Unreasonable goals?

1 - all illegal immigrants are committing a crime. 100% of illegal immigrants are law breakers.
2 - Trump clearly had immigration as a main plank both times he was elected and has a clear mandate to be tough on illegal immigrants
3 - that doesn’t mean I support the way it’s all being done and those murdering people should be held to account.

You need to put your reading comprehension glasses on, I think. 27% of those detained. I thought they were going after the worst of the worst?

Studies have shown that immigrants have significantly lower crime rates than US-born citizens.
