I think America might under go a radical shift in the next 4-8 years.

I think the Republicans have noticed they have become soft and weak. A lot of people around Trump are asking could they win a war today. The loss in Ukraine has them seriously rethinking geopolitical power.

I wouldnt be surprised if they brought in food legislation like Russia and exercising in schools.

To slightly correct this, I'll bring up my voting history in this country.

Labour, labour, national, act, national.

I vote out of

A) beligerance
B) a desire for change.

Depending on circumstance, I could very well vote labour next time.

If I were an American, I probably would have voted republican this time. I have no skin in the game, so this victory is neither here nor there.

I just find Trump to be hilarious in the context of how crap it must feel to lose to him.
Act? Wtf is wrong with you bro? 😝
The rest of your post makes absolute sense.

The Republicans aren't going to change the US for the better.
They want to gut the tax payer for all they can.

Both parties are massively controlled by capital interests and for the GOP a weird evangelical religious fringe. Trump just doesn't give a fuck and to many that bravado looks like a disruptor to the norm.
The Dems lost because working people have nowhere to go, and see Trump as a big fuck you to the establishment. But he is the establishment without the mask.

I think a female candidate would have to be quite exceptional to become President. I think in the US being female and African American is a step to much for voters currently. Just seems there is a large portion of the population who are sexiest and racist. Barrack Obama broke the shackles on the African American front. A female will be president one day but I just have a feeling she will need to be white because it just to much of a change for people to have a black woman president currently
It’s a had one, even the likes of Obama for example was perceived as “Too white” due to his upbringing to be relatable to some in the African American community- Kamala supposedly had similar perception issues and was seen by many as a ‘ticking the right boxes” candidate rather than one of substance which Obama was.
Also wonder if having a long reigning Queen in the British monarchy helped their acceptance of Thatcher for example?
Think the AA vs Female choice outcome was shown with Obama getting the nomination over Hillary

I will go back to what did Biden and the Democrats achieve in the past 4 years?

It seemed to be the quietest I’ve seen about the US president, where Trump got way more publicity (for better or worse).

Was Biden the quietest and least effective president in a long time? Did this push people towards a change?

Maybe it’s just my perception from NZ and our media’s focus. As I said I don’t follow US politics.

Whatever way this goes it’s going to be chaos with either side so divided they won’t accept the result if they don’t get their own way
Most of us "lefties" have accepted the result.. Seen the same on another American forum that's mostly left leaning.
Mostly people pointing out the flaws in the Democrats campaign and strategy from what I've seen so far.
Definitely don't expect a repeat of January 6.
Not aimed at you but I do find it funny people try to claim both sides are the same when it was only supporters of trump (who's the president again) that stormed the Capitol.

And it was only supporters of Clinton that burnt down Portland and Oakland when Trump got in.

Edit: I should add that I agree with the rest of what you're saying, re democrats focusing inward for reasons they lost.

Some good points in there.

They missed The View interview where she got a soft question "what would you have done differently" and said nothing. It would have been a good chance for her to establish a policy.

That article listed her VP nominee. I've seen him get some blame from someone within her campaign. The media tried to frame JD Vance as a weirdo. Then you see him in various podcasts and he's talking like a normal guy. Talking about his wife and kids. I've seen his wife interviewed and she was well spoken.

I will be interested to see if both sides do more non traditional interviews. Trump and Vance on Rogan along with Vance on various podcasts would have had given them a lot of exposure over a 10-30 minute interview. The free form nature also helps.

Harris backing off Rogan probably wasn't a good look especially with the demands they put on. Restricting the time and specifying the location. They likely would have restricted questions as well. In hindsight it probably was smart as it would have given Trump ammunition around the ratings on each interview.

The other one that should be listed is the celebrities. Oprah saying if you don't vote for Harris you may never be able to vote again. I'd like to have seen her explain that one.
