But I stand by my comment! If you can’t tell the study of bugs apart from philosophy, you’re lost!

This is apart of ai’s brief meaning and origin around sympathy

  • Transition to English:
The word entered English in the late 16th and early 17th centuries via Latin.

  • Modern Usage:
Today, while still related to sharing feelings, sympathy is often contrasted with empathy. Sympathy is generally understood as feeling compassion or sorrow for someone's misfortune, but not necessarily experiencing their emotions as one's own

That's not the full quote though & that's literally is a selective snippet & meme, so you're not providing the context at all.
The full quote is an anti democrat spiel that veers into anti science and anti vaccination.

Empathy is not a new age term or invention and he has the definition incorrect.
Yes that's fair. I probably should have posted the entire transcript rather than what I did, but this also does prove the point I was making.

He was referring to the use of the word empathy in a new age political term context.

Interesting though that people who never heard of him before, making a judgement of who he was on a snippet taken out of context of something he said and then continue on doing so.

Without getting in the gender bs, could a man empathise with a woman giving birth?
Yes to an extent. Once I was constipated and when i finally shit it was hard and large and it hurt like fuck. I imagine that pushing out a child hurts like that but x100 for longer and I can emphasize.
The elasticity of my butt didn't seem impacted so I can't emphasize with that part or of the pain of being a mother for the rest of your life when you have a different bond with a child borne of carrying them.
Actually I correct myself after writing all that - No.
