Apologies for not responding early got caught up. Not seeing much in that video that you cant see in Australia or the US during the recruiting process, aside from the military involved being in an active war.

The starting point has to be Hoffman is a retard and then everything makes sense. #1 thing any veteran will tell you is recruiters lie. Believing a Russian recruiter (especially when you cant read or write Russian) firmly reinforces our starting point. There's a 1000 stories on FB in Aus and NZ of new recruits and families crying over not getting what they were "promised".

Civilians have no clue what the "front" or "the frontlines" actually means. Even if he was a welder attached to heavy mech rec / or engineering, you are still going to be part of the combat force. You don't get to relax in Moscow while they ship broken material to you.

In saying that, lets repeat Hoffman is a retard and its a case of FAFO. But he's not getting conscripted to storm the trenches.
