Politics ðŸ¤¡ Donald Trump

Sounds like you align with his views. He is a fascist authoritarian aligning with the far right and the oligarchs. Incredibly destructive. He lies constantly and is surrounded by disinformation. He is a bully and a misogynist, and many other worse things.

Neoliberalism is the dominant economic wealth extraction system in the last 50 years. The right has dominated within that. They are the system. Trump IS the system.
This is what I love about what's happening. In recent times, huge numbers of people were bullied into being quiet by others expectations about what is politically correct and what is not. People were afraid to say I like Trump.

Well my friend, I love lots of what he is doing. I think it is good for all countries to protect their citizens, and look after what's best for their people. I support getting rid of rapists, murderers, pedos, stopping the enforcement of CV19 VAX mandates, lowering taxes, pushing back on the woke mind virus and putting them in their place.
I have questions about his links to some of the big tech oligarchs, and think we should have sympathy for people in bad situations, but I hope you understand that I am glad that it sounds like I align with many of his views because I do.

There are some who are mysoginistic naming, bully claiming, who are woke infected. That's all good my friend, if they sound like that, they are free to do so.

Good luck. I just hope you can actually see what's going on, that you can actually assimilate into your world view the actions and consequences that the likes of Trump and the neolibs will do.

I hope that if you're able and willing to, that you can look recognise and look past the echo chamber you find yourself in.

This really isn't about politically correct etc and the fake culture war. This is about right and wrong

Disinformation, anti science, anti vax - calling that out isn't woke, labelling it that is a state of mind that in my opinion you've fallen into or chosen.

As I say, good luck, I just hope that humanity is the overarching aspect that survives all of this, including the fascism we're seeing now.

If I'm wrong I'll happily admit it. But I can only report on what is happening in front of our very lives

For those with privilege
If you are going after those who are the richest and most successful (potential gatekeepers) in the western world like the US, whites are not at the top.
It's Asians who work their way up, which suggests something.
The obstacles today are more often than not, not another race like white people. They are frequently our own work ethic and application of values to the culture that we are living in that make us successful.
If we put the energy often used to complain into being successful, realise we don't have to be victims, we can often be successful in a foreign system.

One last thing here from me - this so called "woke" thing. It used to be called "politically correct". Those that use those terms say that they're not able to say what they want. That they want to be free of consequences. Free to be an asshole if they want.

Bullshit. You can say what you want - racism, bullying, misogyny, anything you want. That's free speech. The person is an asshole, hey, but they're free to be an asshole. But there are consequences and if you say it, you will get called on it. That's also free speech.

I don't agree with censorship at all, whether it's "cancel culture" but this feeds into the fake culture war that those on the right have very cleverly sown in the last ten years. Cancel culture as I know it is also censorship and also needs to be called out as well.

Did you not realise that people who aligned politically with the right had severe issues? Some were not able to keep their bank accounts, and could not find bank that would have them, others could not get federal/government aid and support when they were caught in a hurricane, people had to relinquish their Christian convictions that were not inline with the sexual ideology of the day or lose jobs. In some big business cultures you struggled if you were not left leaning, like Hollywood where there are scores of people who lost roles, jobs and careers because they didn't surrender to the virus. I agree it can go both ways, but the last few years it was a very strong current to the left. That is why lots of people are happy Trump got in.
I don't believe the right should do the same in their direction, but I get why people are wrapped Trump got in. An interesting thing to note, Libertarians who were originally on the left, are now seen to be part of the right. Not because they have changed their views, they have largely stayed the same like Maher. The left became the fascists my friend. That is the problem, I hope the right under Trump do not return the favour.

I am saddened by how much disinformation, lies and conspiracy theories have created different realities.

Here is a test to identify whether you have the woke mind virus:

It is good to deport foreign sexual offenders: True or False
A country should have secure boarders: True or False
Some people were severely harmed by the C19 Vax even though they were told it was safe and effective: True or False
A child should not be exposed to sexually explicit material: True or False
Violent criminals should go to jail: True or False
White people are not the enemy: True or False

If you answered any of these common sense questions false or got pissed off at the questions you are more than likely woke positive.

Genuine question - after Trump was president last time, why did he lose the next election, and what happened in those 4 years of Biden for enough people to decide to either go back to (or vote Trump for the first time) voting for him?

I don't really follow politics but am consistently surprised at how Trump keeps getting in when many of the things he says are objectively sexist/racist/transphobic etc

I don't follow politics closely either. But I am happy to give it a shot.

The last election was during covid so that may have played a part in people wanting change. All of the headlines during his first term probably would have pushed people to vote the other way as well.

People experienced 4 years under Biden and Harris and compared it to Trump and decided they didn't like the last 4 years.

An American president not serving two consecutive terms hasn't happened for a while. It is a unique situation in that the voters got to compare 4 years between the two regimes. Sure he was running against Harris and not Biden. But it started off as Biden and I don't think the voters thought she was much of a change.

I don't think much of either (Biden or Trump). The next election will be interesting as I believe the two terms as president is just it doesn't have to be two consecutive terms. That is just how it typically works out. So, next time there should be two fresh candidates and hopefully a lot better than Biden or Trump.

Like the Pacific Islanders, Phillipinos, Indians, etc moving to NZ?

NZ is a first world country BECAUSE we progress. Everyone escapes third world environments like NZ was 100 years ago relatively.

Everyone in NZ has privilege, it’s just a matter of perspectiv

I think the answer is simple. Peoples lives went backwards under the previous administration. And remember, blacks, hispanics, gays and poor people were not meant to vote for him.

Thanks for the rundown Snake I appreciate it.

For me though, I just don't understand how so many rationale people - and maybe I'm assuming they are rationale - but there's no way I could vote for someone who says so manyopenly sexist, racist and transphobic (and all the rest!) remarks. Even if I was struggling and wanted to change things for myself I couldn't do it.

I think that's the thing I'm struggling the most with. Like even if you don't consider yourself racist or transphobic, how can you vote for someone that you know (among other things you think might be positive for the country) will marginalise and oppress groups of people?

In what way though. Like, a standard person living in middle America, how did their lives go backwards SO much that sexism, transphobia and rasicm are byproducts that you're happy to sit through?

My life would have to turn pretty 3rd world for me to consider that shit...

Kamala Harris wasn't very popular and ran a very expensive ineffective campaign.

People like to think they will be better off in four years time than they are now if they work as hard or harder.
I think many people are sick of diversity and being labelled a racist or sexist for not supporting it.
My limited travels in the US and meeting Americans has given me the feeling they have a much stronger nationalism and religious foundation they we have and will support politics that reflect that.
I don't like Trump at all but I'm interested to see what if anything he can do.

Inflation, safety, illegal immigration, woke ideology, media BS during covid, the list goes on. People don’t trust the system. They want someone who is straight up, even if he is flawed.
