So, is this person saying it doesn't require any focus despite both youth and young rates being well above the total rate?

Or is he not happy with the policies that are being used?

If boards stuck to what they are meant to do and CEO/ senior management were competent it would almost be a perfect business world lol.
A Board's diversity is a really good thing but crossover from a governance role to an organisational one buggers it up.
Unfortunately, a lot of Boards aren't trained in governance, they're just appointments - a lot of "professional board members" make a good penny the more they're on...great gig after retirement if you can get it...

I can't think of a worse board make-up than a disproportionate number of good ol' boys, ex-politicians, and civic matrons in Health for instance. Never mind, infrastructure, education, town planning, environment etc etc etc.

Tbh, I don't know for sure but took to be a broad stroke for anyone whose qualifications aren't of his kind.
I think it was a dig at māori a la 3waters & health-type governance but thats just my intstinct

With the latest opinion polls seeing Hipkins drop 10% down to 15% in the preferred PM poll, got to wonder if the writing is on the wall and he’ll be rolled soon. Who’s next in line? McAnulty? Woods? Parker?

Interestingly on 25 Jan 2024, Treasury figures affirmed that the National Coalition government "inherited finances in better shape than expected."

• The budget deficit for the five months ended November was $2.8 billion, about $1.1b lower than forecast in the half-year financial update (HYEFU).
• Tax revenue was $49.1b, more than half a billion dollars above forecast because of higher provisional and income tax, and tobacco, alcohol, and fuel duties.
• The September quarter labour market statistics showed lower employment levels but that average hourly earnings increased
• Crown revenue was further lifted by an increase in interest earnings by the Reserve Bank.
• Expenses were $300 million below forecast at $56.8b, reflecting marginally lower spending on community housing and welfare payments, which Treasury said was largely a matter of timing.
• Net debt was $83.9b, $1.8b below forecast, and equating to 20.9 percent of the value of the economy, reflecting gains on investments held by the NZ Superannuation Fund and ACC.

But it was noted: The figures do not reflect the effect of any decisions by the new government, which had just just been formed at the end of November.

In September 2023, Treasury forecast NZ was expected to grow at 2.6% on average for the next four years, continuing a solid growth trajectory. Meanwhile UK is -0.3%, Australia is fairly flat, Japan is in recession, Canada is 1.5%. and France at 1 to 1.4%.

Reinvent themselves as a party for the middle working New Zealander - LABOUR party.

They have lost their purpose with to much irrelevant policy.

Meanwhile National take harshly punitive action dole bashing, that perennial favourite of the tories, as a distraction from their asset sale plans elsewhere, at the same time as enabling and manufacturing a recession throwing tens of thousands onto the unemployment queues and enabling huge cuts stifling job growth.
