Since the 2023 election, political parties have received $25 million in donations. Most of that comes from everyday donors; people giving a bit of money every now and then.
The journo is a looney leftie hence the rubbish interactive chart. I posted the correct graph from the same article. Editor addition I'd bet.
 
Not too sure where you got those figures from as the latest data from the public service shows 2.2% of all NZ employees are employed in the public service by the government (64K of 2.89mill) while the total employed by central government is 14.4% (417.7k pf 2.89mill).

It’s actually an interesting comparison when you delve into it. The target of 1% given in the article suggests it is the core civil service being talked about (which makes sense, as it apparently excludes teachers and nurses etc), an area where Singapore’s percentage is higher.

It’s an insidious form of demand pull inflation you have the privilege of paying for out of your taxes.
