Thats called the duck curve and its actually problematic. No one uses any power during the day, or worse, they all feed back solar into a grid where there is zero demand, then come evening demand skyrockets.

Now since no one is paying for power during the day and power cos are losing money by forking out solar FiTs, all that money has to be couped in a much smaller consumption window, so again the price goes up.

Cheap power can only be obtained from large grid scale generators as the basic economics of supply and demand still applies. IE drastically increase supply to drastically reduce the price.
So people aren't using power in the night because they're at work all day right. Because they need to work all week to pay for the electricity and what not right.
Man we are all just slaves aren't we.

Move out of the cities into small towns - cheap living, cheaper houses, no rat race, lots of space and can usually survive on a single income if you are efficient.

Can’t see the benefits of the big cities and big costs really for raising a family, except For less choice in fast food options.

Usually it's job availability, perceived upwards mobility instead of living within one's means, but advertising and capitalism sell you those ideas right?

Fascinating shift from National - playing for the big picture:

β€˜New Zealand now faces a world where β€œstronger nations do as they please, smaller countries have to adjust” and β€œterritorial conquest is not a relic of history”.

Where state competition is no longer about better goods and services but β€œcyber-attacks, disinformation, supply chain coercion, and grey-zone operations” and where β€œenergy independence must be treated as an immediate national security interest”.

Luxon led with national security, alluding to the United States abdicating its post-1945 leadership role, Russia seeking to restore its Cold War empire, and China aggressively asserting economic and military power regionally and globally.

β€œThis is the world New Zealand must now navigate,” this new realist Luxon declared. β€œNot with fear, but with clear eyes and a willingness to make different choices than in the past.”

Strong wording and trying to move the election to addressing global big picture issues which should favours National much more than Labour who strength is focuses on the individual.

National cutting free university and extending pensions to prioritise doubling defence snookers Labour who will seem out of touch focusing on pet projects…

Fascinating big picture play from National and it will be interesting how it plays out.

This statement sums up what a load of tripe that is. This government is too gutless to even question anything going on in America like it’s all just normal transmission. Any world leader too weak to address what’s going on there isn’t worth a puddle of piss

A nice coercive push to spend less on you ( the people ) and more on their mates in the arms industries.

You guys don't need one.
Probably never will.
