The default position of humans across time is to be in poverty and it’s only recently that civilisation has managed mass prosperity. The question should be how do we get more prosperity which is the outlier rather than what causes poverty.
Capitalism has bought prosperity, gains in health, education, lifespans, technology, etc. Social programs are the result of prosperity.
Grow the pie and focus on prosperity and productivity… or try to solve poverty Jacinda style, vote for Labour and end up with years of economic stagnation

You may be correct and there’s nothing stopping you living that way with a lower quality of life.
My post never mentioned growth. Prosperity can come from getting more from the same labour/ resources. Productivity.
