Grenon is far right. Very far right. So, no to the guardian.

Presumably you can ask the commission yourself. Serious matters deserve answers. Best they are fact based.
Once again, no deflection, no bullshit, what exactly are these facts you harp on about. Nothing in that article that isn't factual. The tone can be what ever you think it is but as you always say, facts are facts.

God, why are we arguing about things years gone by. No use talking about what John Key did or Ardern, it's what's best for the future.

People should stop looking left or right and actually look at policies that are good for average people because that's the majority.
Ardern fucked up Hotel Quarantines and some of the mandatory vaccinations.
Luxon has fucked up the smoking taxes, the taxes for landlords and having Nicky no boats.

Because this is a politics thread on a Rugby League forum. What else is there to do in between games but poke the Bear.

Average rents.

Noticeable increase in 2021 when interest deductibility was removed and the brightline extended to 10 years. Noticeable decrease in rent when National removed them both.

Renters must hate the $100 extra per week renters taxes introduced by Labour and love National for giving them tax relief!

Labour = taxing middle NZ and blaming landlords πŸ˜‰

It’s a stretch to credit a single tax tweak for market shifts while ignoring the massive economic levers happening at the same time. The removal of tax policy is largely a correlation, not causation.

Lets not forget that:
1. Increased supply, record number of new homes hit the market in '24 and '25.
2. Migration slowed from 2023 peaks = less pressure on rental demand.
3. Economy was in a recession during '24/'25 so landlords had to lower rent due to less ability of tenants being able to absorb any rent increases.

Tax policy has an influence but supply, demand and wages dictate rent far more.

A single tax tweak… that cost landlords $10k per year and made the industry uneconomic for most investors? And it wasn’t going to be passed onto tenants???

It wasn’t done anywhere else in the word, wasn’t supported by treasury and the fact Labour won’t do it again if re-elected says it all really.

It was predicted it would be passed on to tenants and so the data shows. One of the most daft policies in NZ history!

When has a capitalist company or entity ever drop it's prices because it saved money somewhere?

My rent and no ones rent went down. Only empty houses rent went down because like Damo said, supply and demand.

Btw I believe in one rental getting tax deduction but if you own multiple and got forbid some owners who own 20+ , why do they need a tax break?

I don't understand the need for ordinary people to defend multimillionaires.
