When did he receive the advice though?Your timeline doesn't add up.
The document the Herald found was in March 2022, the exact time the government used that advice to scrap the mandates.
You can't blame a Minister for not acting on a red flag in 2021 that his own Ministry admitted they didn't properly flag to him until months later. As soon as the technical risk benefit was made clear to Cabinet, the mandates were gone. That's following actual evidence and not an opinion.
The Ministry had the advice in 2021 and Hipkins letter to cabinet in March indicated he already knew the adviceβ¦. So when did he receive it?
The mandates for 12-18 year olds was stopped in September - 6 months after him 100% knowing in March⦠in that 6 months he never communicated the risk or acted with urgency.
Itβs doctors fault apparently, even though he kept the mandates for AT LEAST an extra 6 months.
Everyone around Hipkins always seems to be wrong and never him (just my opinion)
