Oh look.

Rise of 50% in lng from the same region I believe we're supposed to be sourcing from

How about that solar and wind eh? How about this regressive fossil fuel government.

Don't think LNG tankers coming from the Northwest Shelf or Gladstone will be too worried about Qatari tanker traffic.

If you think positive, it's not hard, the rising price of oil may ignite more exploration here, especially in the GS Basin.

Big Shane needs to get some guarantees going, it is election year after all.

My question though Rick can we reply on Shonky Shane to secure the best possible deal for NZ ? I don't have any faith in him to do so

I hope so otherwise the transition to renewables is going to be a long painful process. I'll say it again that the real issue is not fossil fuels for energy, it's the petro-chemical industry.

Until that gets transitioned (if at all possible) there is still a large need for O&G. Everyday life would be impossible without it.

Oh dear. Greater Auckland are basing the $22 billion on their own predicted cost overruns and adding that on to the $15-18 billion estimate.... but those estimates had already factored in price increases.
You should challenge them on it Mike. Always good to get the facts.

I do note other places are quoting that figure in the upper end

We have a fundamental problem here that punters will be reluctant to come down and have a look as there is no political consensus.

Another 3-5 years and we are very deep in the shit with supply. A tanker of LNG a month ain't going to cut it with so many business and industry relying on Gas. Converting to electricity is all well in good but the numbers say we will have nowhere near enough power to supply industry needs at an economic price.

Look at the number of plants shut down in the last year or so due to the cost of power, and some of those have their own co-gen.

I don't think people really understand the extent of the problem and more importantly the effects if we don't give ourselves time to transition properly.

That's what I love about the left. The mortgage on morality
Nah, that's just lazy. X is all those things and more. That's fact.

If you guys endorse that, good on you, own it. If you don't, speak up. I know I will.

Shifting sands Rick. What wasn't tolerated, suddenly is acceptable, and the further right we go.

Meanwhile, the Right shove morality, censorship and bigotry down our throats at the same time as crying foul when they get called out for being an asshole.

A regressive government? Which is about to pay out between $180 mil to $200 mil to Genesis for renewable and battery storage so the Government can maintain it's majority shareholding and not be seen as "selling assets*"?

A regressive government? That sees it better to burn gas as a back up to renewables than coal like the previous "green" leaning government. They could burn gas for thirty years and still not have damaged the environment as much as the coal used in 10 years while the Lake battery was built.

A regressive government? One, whose fast-tracking system has seen nearly twice as much renewable and battery storage projects get faster Resource approval than previously?

A regressive government? Because they recognise that the lower the speeds (because of congestion) the worse for the environment. Build more RoNS.... save the environment (okay, I admit, that last part was a bit sarcastic).

Don't fall for everything you read on bluesky.... it leans to the left.

*ACT and their Atlas puppet masters won't be happy!!!

Sounds like you are as skeptical about the integrity of Jones as I am?
