Quality ECE versus others ECE is one as well.

I'd also like to see more awareness given to minimum expectations for 5 year olds starting school for those parents who perhaps think that their kids learning starts then on key basic skills/knowledge

New entrant teachers know the difference and good schools have relationships with the local ECE

I honestly think the ECE curriculum is hopeless. Primary has change to a lot more prescriptive while ECE’s curriculum allows anything, everything… and nothing!

Few changes in mortgage rates…ANZ has decreased its six month rate, kept their floating, 12 and 18 month the same and 1 year the same, and raised their 2, 3 and 4 year rates.

there's a bus lane camera on Khyber Pass, operating 7am-7pm 7 days a week. Would be good if that one disappeared. At least on weekends!

Where my wife used to work is just off those roads and she was constantly getting fines for company cars which were then passed on to the drivers.

Actually, she had some good stories from when she was managing their fleet.... one afternoon she got a phone call from the Papakura Police station. A company car that was supposed to be driven by one of their merchandisers to set up promotional stands in supermarkets was instead being used by the employee's gang associate boyfriend to supply tinny houses in South Auckland. Not a good look for a Fortune 100 US-based company!!!

Amazing how government funded TV adverts are telling everyone to slow down & then our politicians are advocating for faster speed zones.

John, maybe we need more "truth in advertising".... instead off "the faster you go, the bigger the mess", it should be changed to "the faster you go, the more revenue we receive"

it’s a terrible spot in the weekends when everyone is crossing Newmarket to get to kids’ sports and the bus lanes are empty but the roads are chocka

No buses in sight but the cameras are ticking away, should anyone venture into the empty bus lane to get around the traffic jam…

There have been some rumours going around in South Auckland for a while that Jackson and Henare have had issues and Henare felt Labour (especially Jackson) didn't support him enough in the bye-election last year.

I wonder if NZ First is sniffing blood in the water and looking at going hard after the māori vote again with all the issues the māori Party have had and now this.... an apparent breakdown in Labour's māori caucus with two of it's senior MP's fighting.

TBH, I don't think Henare will go with any other party (too much integrity for that).

The māori seats will be quite interesting this year.... will the voters who were disgruntled with Labour last time, return to them or "forgive" the māori party for their issues and stay with TPM? Will they consider NZ First, knowing Winnie will most likely never support a government led by Chippy?

This looks like being one of the most interesting elections since when Clark led Labour to power.

I could see space for another māori party to come into the fold and I think someone like Henare would be the ideal leader. It’s too late to do it this cycle, but I can’t see the fracture in the current māori party holding either with MKK back. I’m sure there are divisions between all walks of māori and no doubt something between Jackson and Henare, but I don’t think māori are in any doubt that this government who’s primary accomplishments were to strip any māori wording from government department titles, so I get the feeling there’s likely a fairly united front that most would like this government replaced. I’ve been interested to witness Winston so opposed to the Indian trade deal and bishop tamaki’s protests having a very anti Indian immigration theme and beginning to wonder if through NZ first is how bishop tamaki finally gets into politics? It’s just a matter of time before a grifter like him finds a home with the others of his ilk. Very interesting election coming up and polls have shown from month to month it could go either way. National have hedged their bets on America to be bending over on a minerals deal that only they get the privilege so it’ll be interesting to watch on as to just how crazy that place gets
