Report of the termination of the MMA Vision contract brought forward to February rather than June announcement today
The vessel has been operating primarily as a salvage ship for the aging Cook Strait fleet .No replacement have been considered 🤔
Who would have thought.
Another dumb maritime decision in a very long line of dumb maritime decisions.... full speed ahead; there's no icebergs in this part of the Atlantic.... don't worry about that creaking noise from the outside of the submersible.... let's invade the Otterman Empire at the peninsular.... let's get rid of an ocean-going tug in one of the world's roughest bits of water.... just dumb!!!!

And we have seen the media reports of Bishop taking over the National party leadership. 🥳

All dominated by National mps

Shows who the intelligent party is then 🤣

Question: do we want successful people in charge of the country or people that aren’t successfully personally, trying to decide how we live?

Self made wealth is usually the result of understanding the ‘system’ and how to thrive and actually able to do it. Those are the people that have the best chance of laying a platform for everyone to be successful, rather than people that want to do good but I’m reality don’t have a clue how to do it. And I don’t believe MOST wealthy people enter politics for personal gain.

Labour last term with record minimum wage increases yet rising poverty is the classic example of right idea but hopeless understanding of how the economy works.

This government is corrupt.

If Luxon had any balls he would kick this unelected knut out of parliament and Winnie should be doing the same thing for the sake of his party. Unbelievable how such an articulate educated man who came into politics with such great intentions has turned into the shonkiest politician of all time. Bar none

Interesting that we repeatedly hear that National in particular is wanting to make things easier for landlords because of the investment properties they own. Yet, according to this article, of the nearly $380 million value of property all MPs own, only 14% are known to be rental properties while, if you add the properties where the "purpose is unclear" it rises to 18%. Put it another way, at least 82% of all properties owned by MPs or those which they have an interest in, would not be subject to Labour's proposed CGT.

Put it another way, according to Stats NZ 2025 data, 34% of houses in NZ are rented (including KO houses) so at 18%, MPs own houses at a rate of about half as many as the rest of the owners of rental properties.

Hardly the corruption some would have us believe.

Well the decision to ban oil and gas was worse. It lacked transparency and a public mandate with no consultation (Including with the industry), wasn’t part of the election manifesto, had significant economic impacts, without parliament debate and it was a dictator type undemocratic self-centred decision.

With such a corrupted decision wrecking confidence in the country and destroying an industry overnight, it’s only fair the industry is handled with favourable enticement to undo the damage.

Make no mistake, to me the undemocratic destruction of an entire industry was one of the worst acts that could happen - regardless of if the decision was right or wrong, the process was simply wrong.

Two wrongs do make a right

I have nothing against the oil and mining industry in general but I have absolutely no faith with Jones in charge and this article only confirms my opinion. Worse ever cabinet appointment by Luxon to appease Winnie.

Don’t worry about it JN
If you accept what Wiz says it’s the previous Govt’s fault
I can’t fathom why he hasn’t got that line on autocorrect as he uses it to bolster his every opinion

Hey, the govt is apologising and compensating for past injustices.

Whatever this govt can do to make up for the captains call that destroyed an industry and NZ’s reputation, I say go for it!

(Ps I don’t like Shane Jones either)

Labour inherited a booming economy, structural surplus’s and a strong stable economy with low debt in 2018

6 years of economic destruction, destroying industries, attacking business, lumping costs everywhere, disincentivising business and risk taker and borrowing billions.

We are left with the worst recession in 30 years, structural deficits and debt repayments up there with the whole health budget.

… and it’s National fault 🤯
