There's an election next year. The current mob, and the surging of the right around the world have completely changed the landscape and for the worse in many western countries, and the world is in much worse shape.

Posters on the right here seem to be moving themselves further right to excuse and defend the corruption and authoritarianism, even open fasicism, and in New Zealand open attacks on our democracy and fabric of our society.

By the parties in power.

Posters on the right, you get what you ask for, there is no left in this at all now. It's all your mob. It has been for a long time.

And underpinning this? A very, very long game, invoking tools like neoliberalism, fascism and authoritarianism.

I'd like to think some of you have a conscience, I know you do. It might be nice to hear some speak out about it for once. I know this falls on deaf ears, but I can hope.
Lol you make zero concessions even when proved wrong, and that has happened on many occasions. In fact you can't even apologize or admit you did. Plenty of the posters on the right, whatever that is, have done so previously and have often pointed out things they haven't agreed with for this government, myself included. You spam post things you haven't read and/or make statements about them that are pure misinformation or disinformation. You cant point to an example of a country currently successfully utilizing your form of utopia yet continue to berate anyone who cares have a different opinion to you, resorting to generic name calling.

So, am I happy with where we are as a country? No. But it's certainly a hell of a lot better than what the alternative options are. In fact it's not even a close decision for me and a lot of people.

This coalition is far from perfect but I shudder to imagine a Greens, TPM, Labour circus and the disaster that would be for the country.

So, sorry, but not sorry you aren't getting the desired conversion or agreement of many on here. I'm not surprised either given your style and completely one sided views with no ability to have any sort of balanced discussion.

Good point, I've never seen him concede an argument once, he calls everyone cheats and bumps the board over. The old last resort chess move of a scoundrel.

Self reflection goes a long way mate.

Was THAT dress blue & black or white & gold?

We all see the word differently.
Time for an off season I think, leave them to their self congratulatory cesspit
Without the weekly game to let life’s frustration out on, the off-season usually gets pretty wild on here. It’s like a competition for who gets banned first. 🤣

I’ll share some some critique of the right - most of it already shared on here:

- I believe teachers, nurses and the public health and education should get more funding. They should be the priority.
- I’m not happy with the economy and the general business environment. It’s been 5 years of struggle. Businesses are in pain and making tough decision and I don’t see the same cut back on excess from the government or councils
- I share your concerns about the economy and the inability of the middle and lower socioeconomic groups to progress over the last 20 years. I dislike how we used to have 1 income supporting a family and now require 2. We have gone backwards.
- I’ve said while I generally agree with the thrust that we’re all NZers and shouldn’t have race based policies, I think Seymour treaty bill was a huge mistake and didn’t help anyone. We need to all work together with shared goals and ambitions instead of being divided
- I’ve said numerous times Helen Clarkes govt was the best I’ve seen. Economically right and socially left.
- some policies of this govt like not banning smoking I don’t agree with. Like anything there’s probably only 80% of any party that anyone agrees with.
- I liked Jacinda when she first came in. A fresh face with fresh modern ideas. Post covid I dislike that version of Labour but not necessarily the left ideas overall (eg liking Clarke). I still liked about 20% of their policies last term but they went hard Left the longer they were in and the policy bonfire shows how unpopular they got
- I’ve said I don’t believe in cancel culture on any side and didn’t agree with that US tv guy shut down
- I’ve frequently criticised Trump and agree with perhaps 20% of his policies. He’s inflammatory, authoritarian, narcissistic and has taken the US back decades in its global relations:
- you try to paint us as far right and ACT voters but I’ve said multiple times I’m most aligned with NZ first, policy wise which has aspects of left and right and has sided either way in the past. (Anti Peters though)

Much of this I’ve shared on here - we’re all on a political spectrum and everyone has some balance in their views.

However the more we get the constant far left politicking and negativity from you, the more you only hear the opposite to counter it and the middle ground gets lost. Each action gets an equal and opposite reaction!

I support use for pain relief but not as an escape from reality. I support decriminalisation but not legalisation.

The argument against full acceptance is the social and health harms from addiction - the same reasons for fazing out smoking.
So are you in favor of making alcohol illegal? Same argument I reckon.
Could say the same for potatoes, too many fat dudes dying from all these carbs.
Ban the potato!

No victim, no crime. Let people do what they want if it ain't hurting you.

Alcohol would probably be illegal if it was invented today but it’s to. Ingrained in society for that to happen.

I dont get drunk anymore and cross my fingers my late teenage years kids get through nights out on the town ok every weekend! Honestly, not much good comes from excessive alcohol,

The economy is the same size as it was three years ago. Per capita wise the economy is down 4% from its peak due to non contributing immigration.. Wage inflation is not keeping pace with general inflation so cost of living pressures are intense.

These are the facts and the reason NZ is in the shit. This flows to the unemployment rate, govt deficit, cost of living issues, etc.

Quite simply this is a real world example of not having business focused policies and support to business and a real world example of how everything relies on the trickle down from business.

All the last govts anti business policies currently playing out in the real world now. We’ve needed a sensible govt with no more taxes and realigning employee benefits beyond our productivity increase to correct the fundamentals again.

Waiting for someone to bite!

- If businesses aren’t making any money and can’t increase prices to be viable.
- and govt/ consumers don’t have any spare money and can’t afford current prices, let alone increases.

How do we trade our way out of this mess?

Answer: We have structurally increased costs (wages, compliance, land) where by businesses are on a downward spiral of falling profit, rising unemployment, no wage growth, etc.

We need a massive counter cyclical investment from the govt, or really low interest rates to break this cycle. This is the standard recession response but due to inflation, we have been able to do this until the fundamentals driving inflation are resolved.

The govt is boxed in with huge debt and inflation issues (note the current amount of strikes over pay). Hopefully interest rates drop low enough, fast to trigger things soon…

Don't know who these people are whose net worth has increased 33% since 2021 because it sure as hell isn't me!!!

Also shows how much house ownership upsets the results as Europeans in NZ are more likely to own their house (even with a mortgage) meaning that their individual median net worth (assets - debt) is $222,000 (up 44% from 2021) but, because of less housing ownership with māori ($52,000 median net worth) and Pacific People ($26,000 median net worth).

Oh, and those thinking the "rich" are doing really well with this government, the top 1 percent now hold 14.1% of the nation's net worth.... slightly down on previous years and same with those in the top 5 and top 10 percents.

Even though it doesn't feel like it, it's middle NZ whose net wealth has grown.

By the centre, for the centre..

Just spent a week in Hawke Bay. Bloody hell, can't believe how quiet Napier was, especially for school Holidays. Hospo people we talked to said it's very tough out there.
Came back through Taupo and the place absolutely jumping. Maybe a triathlon or something? You busy Wiz?
Expect more businesses to disappear down the gurgler before xmas.
