Not a stupid reply at all. I'm surprised someone of your intelligence has taken it that way.

I was replying to a post claiming leadership and integrity. I'm simply saying I'm not seeing that from her about issues that she would actually have to do something about. Of course we have a voice on the international stage. Get thrown out of parliament for the rest of the week on this issue though doesn't scream leadership and integrity. More like petulance.

You are right though, that the Government need to do more to help the lives of those who are more likely to transgress in this way. Certainly isn't a silver bullet and we have seen that just throwing money after money doesn't work, in fact it makes it worse. I'm pleased that we are making much needed overdue changes to Education. That is the first step.

I'm not sanctimonious at all about this . If you had taken notice of my posts previously I have covered the issues about our own violent crimes against our children numerous times.
It's really quite odd to get more triggered by a politician making a stand about a horrific literal genocide than the actual horrific genocide.

It's not the good look you and your mates think it is.

You have completely missed my point then if that's the conclusion you somehow came to

Or helped end apartheid

and stopped nuclear tests in the pacific.
Classic NZ fairy tales.
1. Apartheid ended due to internal resistance including violence on both sides and mostly the drive from Klerk who feared a civil war like Rhodesia faced.
2. 318 major nuclear tests in the Pacific, 600 minor trials, French continued pacific testing right up until 1996, while USSR stopped altogether in 1990, UK 1991, the US in 1992.

Great job NZ, great job.

I think the protests for the Tour did help. The Flotilla, not so much. The French are a different beast to the rest of the world and do what they want , bugger everyone else. Got caught up in Farmers protest there years ago, quite frightening.

The nuclear thing is very interesting. Don't think there's anyone on the planet who would disagree about nuclear weapons being bad but unfortunately the sledge hammer took out the positive side of fission and we're still paying the price for that today. If things hadn't got so hysterical we could be living the dream with cheap safe energy instead of arguing over fossil fuels, pollution and here, a dwindling gas supply.

Be interested to know how many forum members use gas either through bottles or hard piped into the home.
Bottle price has doubled since 2020 and I expect it won't be long before it's $300 for a 45kg bottle. Having to import LNG, like the Indonesian coal can only increase the price of power.

By now, nuclear power would have been privatised by one of our many neo liberal governments, Some lame excuse of why our bills must be hight, ran into the ground & we'd probably end up having a Fukushima of our own.

Possibly but I doubt it. Privatised, yes, certainly but very highly regulated. Been a lot more deaths from dam collapses than Nuclear accidents.
Unless you're living in a true socialist country most of the services anywhere are not state owned these days. Not too many of those left as far as I know, even the Bear is not really socialist anymore. They don't seem to work for too long for some reason.
