I know the family reasonably well from my early days in Tokoroa. His brother Doug was a pretty good footballer, played on the wing for me at Pirates and went on to found the Tamaki Village experience with another brother Mike in Rotovegas. Died in 2017.

Anyways, their old man was a māori Warden and a top guy. He would turn in his grave to see what Brian is up to.

The thing is, like all cults there will be a base following. Left, right, centre, marxist, fascist, neoliberals (just for you T8) alt whatever.

The only feature they all have in common is the gift of the gab.

Doesn't that work the same way with profits taken offshore.
Yes Mr B but the stakes for NZ racing has lifted for the better of the thoroughbred industry.
With a monopoly the benefits to the industry will be going offshore.

All I know is that my colleague is very senior within NZ racing & he was really pleased with the announcement.

I just think that the hypocrisy is we have an offshore company taking over our TAB and then wanting exclusivity.
Personally I think that Entain will be struggling.
We have had many meetings canceled and postponed and they are cutting back on promotions and bonus bets etc.
Then next year we have the finish of greyhound racing. Not a huge betting opportunity but nonetheless another set back. The current CEO has resigned isn't a good look
