it’s a shame for all the good people in the community do, and especially in the wake of all that man up and tamaki bullshit that someone’s shitty behaviour has come back to bite them on the ass, and undo the goodwill and hard work of others.
i don’t see a way doyle can stay on.
and it’s yet another black eye for the greens.

Agree with most of what’s said here marv, but always tricky to bring a persons life before they were a representative and hold them to account for it. National’s Sam Uffindell comes to mind with some of his history and a female flatmate so scared she climbed out a window when he was banging on her door so unsafe she felt. Obviously much longer ago than what’s surfaced here about Doyle, but I still feel just like I did then that as voters we have the right to know what makes up these people’s character and we get to vote accordingly. I think if the greens want to continue with him, then voters will have a say one way or another. Obviously if he doesn’t win his electorate, then he still has the potential to serve as a list mp as he is currently? But votes could go against the greens because of their affiliation with him

however rape and child molestation jokes are pretty grim at the best of times let alone from an MP.
i think it’ll end up more damage than it’s worth to keep them on and i think swarbrick really needs to stop gaslighting RE: the term. it’s a boy/man asshole but for sex. she’s well aware of that, and she needs to stop side stepping the question of the meaning and going back to death threats.

Get rid of the pervert. Disgusting to platform someone like that. Police should investigate it. Also I have gay friends who are disgusted by this stuff so trying to make this an attack on the LGBT community is all rubbish. Such double standards from the media. They will jump all over tiny on the right but ignore perversion and sick sexual crap on the left.

She’s a politician, nothing different from the direction any other leader would be willing to go down. To be fair, I still haven’t seen what’s at the centre of the controversy but from what’s described it’s in poor taste to say the least. Still think there’s a right of explanation as I mentioned the other day, but also feel many would have made up their mind based on his appearance anyway

Throw out names. Here we go. If we have someone promoting and platforming behaviour that makes children unsafe and more vulnerable to sexual exploitation they should not be in positions of power. It is a norm in any organisation. To suggest he get booted from the party is to demonstrate that this behaviour is abnormal and sick. I have worked in this area and will never apologise for this stand, especially as I have spent extensive amounts of time with people and young people who were sexually exploited. The fact that some seem more worried about those charged with inappropriate behaviour then vulnerable children and precedent this sets is concerning.
