"Can you cook and sow/sew
Make flowers grow
Do you understand my pain
Will you let me be myself
Or is your love in vain/vein"

Is it a love song, is it a prayer, is it about Helen Clarke?

Is it like on the road or more autobiographical?
Similar but more personal and specific about the Great Depression and the dustbowl, it's a trip. We did it in high school 6th form English. The movie was a bit shit compared to the book, misses all the beautiful prose and his awesome turns of phrase.

Always loved his guitar. This machine kills fascists written on it. Cool thing to study at school
We had excellent teachers at Aranui High in the 80's, mostly male now I think about it. Couple of ex-All Blacks and leaguies who set up the League Academy. Good role models who really cared.
