100 MIke, if there's no links and articles of journalistic fact inside those opinion pieces.

When someone asks for the "facts" to be proven from their own sourced opinion piece that doesn't actually quote any or link to anything then that's a bit much isn't it?
I was ctriticised earlier in the week for not supplying a link or like. Only I couldn't for other reasons. But hey I was still on the money

The data, released today by the Ministry of Education, showed 58% of students were at or above expectations at their 20-week phonics check in Term 3. This is up from 36% in Term 1.

In Term 3, 43% of students were classed as exceeding expectations – more than double the Term 1 rate.

NZ Herald 13/10

If you go to the Ministry site the data is there.

I do read one of those :)
I glance at them all, mainly to see if they can actually criticise their own side and with the Economists (you know who you are) can count past 10 without taking their boots off.
TBF to Bomber even if he is on the spectrum and a lower form of life, he's not afraid to give it to his own side if he thinks they're giving the enemy an advantage

Pretty sure Inruin could do that too. But that's on them.

However, and thanks for the info, this https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2025/11/27/more-of-ericas-magic-tricks/

Refers to a rebuttal of Erica Stanford's claims far better than I can.

The article from the daily blog isn't bomber btw. Not that it matters really.

Numpty, I have posted the link to a news report with that data in.

Despite all the toing and froing, from what you've heard and read do you think there has been an improvement in literacy and numeracy?

Totally agree they're going to spin it, that's politics

To add to the facts, my wife teaches in primary and anecdotally the changes have seen significant improvements.

All teachers were put on a MoE funded literacy course last year (BSL) and the results implementing the system have been phenomenal.

I think it’s critical to NZ’s future that we educate our kids well and it’s more important than politics. The people hoping the changes fail, really need to reflect that their desire for failure for personal and political reasons is going to actually affect kids negatively in the real world.

We need to rise above politics and champion what works.
