Sports πŸ Black Caps

I think it's one where if you have played cricket a lot, you know it's out. As far as I'm concerned if fingers are under the ball it's out and we shouldn't over-analyse these things. It's only recently that the interpretation seems to be getting read a bit differently. Legitimate low catches always look suss on camera.

South Africans have been going off about it online though.
I've played a fair bit and I wouldn't be happy if I was the batsman. Turns out it wouldn't really have made much of a difference to the result the way our openers went.

@Wrighty what did you think of it with all your years of experience?

I am giving NZ a good chance of winning the final going in as underdogs. They will probably need to win the toss and the openers will need to fire again
Of course, we absolutely deserve to be there and have the arsenal!

I do worry that the Finn Allen attention is giving of BMac 2015 WC final vibes, please no rushing the bowler in the first 2 deliveries! Reality is he has not shown anything other than a cool head and a straight bat. Having a dual threat in Seifert makes it a lot easier on both of them.

For me Neesham has to make way for either Duffy or Sodhi, unless Bracewell is good to go?

We are a champion cricket nation and as much as I hugely value our Test Championship, a WC win it is not. Will be cheering every minute and have faith we will win!

For what it is worth, every NZ game I have watched live this WC we have won (Afghanistan, UAE, Canada, Sri Lanka & SA semi) I shall not be crossing roads or eating vindaloos until Tuesday!

lastly, bring it home boys for all NZ cricket fans past and present! I could only imagine how excited my Granddad would have been, sadly so many staunch supporters never saw us reach the pinnacle.

I am still not over 2019 lol, Boult! 😭 the only redemption is for Kane to lead us to a win next year in his last hurrah

Allen should be ok he doesn’t face opening balls like BMac. I do believe the key is our bowlers, we basically don’t have bowlers 4 and 5 but Ravindra has become the 2023 Philips and the rookie spinner might still be unknown enough to rattle their line up, wonder how many lefties India have? I am effy about Duffy tho and definitely a hard no to Sodhi who still bowls 2 rubbish balls per over 10 years later

Anyone know what the stats and pitch is like for the final?

Why did we bowl first on a batting friendly pitchπŸ™„πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ bat first and get 200+ put the pressure back on India. I didn’t understand Santner thought process. India way too good unfortunately. We seem to never get this monkey of our back in ICC tournaments

Ya we did exact what SA did, India's scared of Henry so we hook him after 1 over, Mconche's been a superstar with bat and ball so we hook him for Duffy who got blasted as usual, Philips part time spin was containing them so we went to pace bowling and only bring Henry back to rescue the last power play over. Then Ravindra another spinner was containing them so we went to more pace. And Neesham ends up taking 3 wickets in 1 over when it's too late 🀣

I think we lost this one at the drawing board

I'm not mad though we definitely overachieved again so...our bowlers were never gonna get anywhere especially when they butchered the rotation

Seifert's probably had a breakout tournament and our best batsman, his partnership with Allen is our ace, so I'm wondering if they'll consider using this combo for the ODI?

Like I've said many times we're a real shot at winning the ODI WC, our bowling unit is solid if healthy and the batting is crazy, now even an option of Allen/Seifert up top to compete with Young/Conway, the depth is great

Allen
Seifert (WK)
Ravindra
Williamson
Mitchell
Philips
Bracewell
Santa
Henry
Jamieson
O'Rourke/Seers/Fergey

Alternatives - Young, Conway, Latham.

I get aroused just writing that line up 🀣

It would be awesome to see how that lineup performs. With Ravindras impressive opening record in ODI format it's hard to see them deviating from that though. Also it's likely they will give Latham the gloves through to the WC and it appears to be Hay they see as the ODI back up.

Ya I think Ravindra/Allen/Seifert trio in whatever order followed by Kane and Mitchell will be fine, especially Seifert’s in his prime right now, unfortunately Latham will probably keep till retirement hope he start performing at big tournaments, SA is not his favorite place either

We are even seeing Nicholls returning πŸ˜‚ come on.
