Sports 🏏 Black Caps

Add another tonne to the tally......what a hack ;)

Even with Kohli's 100 today Mitchell should overtake him as the number one ODI batsmen cause he's scored 2 centuries since the last rating.

Great series win over there with an understrength side but probably highlights the depth were developing and just how good we are in ODI cricket. For some reason its a format that just suits us better.
If he’s anything like his old man, he’ll be full of confidence

Congratulations on the blackcaps 1st Odi win in India,
Mitchell is outstanding, we also can't forget Phillips contribution either its probably his most measured hundred so far.
I thought we definitely left a few runs out there and Bracewells non running on Jamieson was quite bizarre as Jamieson can fair wack the ball,
But just nitpicking superb win.

I sat up and watched the Black Caps bat. Mitchell and Phillipsboth looked very composed. Lots of bit part players batting below them though who looked they they struggled on the big stage. Bracewell does pretty well though. Ravindra coming back into the side will be huge. Certainly creating a lot of depth.

Was impressed by both Clark and Lennox when it came to their bowling. Was surprised at how little pressure India put on Lennox over the last 2 games. Will be interesting to see how goes when players are going after him. Hope we don't discard Adi Ashok and continue to give him chances. Leg spinners can be match winners.

Not sure how Foulkes has become an 'automatic selection' especially as a frontline seamer. Way to erratic and slow to be any real threat. Clark is already a better bowler and batsmen in my opinion. Clark has a list A century Foulkes doesn't.

We have good bowling depth however, would like to develop our batting depth by giving the likes of Rhys Mariu/Tim Robinson/Muhammad Abbas/Bevon Jacobs etc. more opportunities in white ball cricket.

So I haven't been following too much cricket lately but I saw we have a new coach who's already blooding a bunch of new players for ODIs? How amazing we beat India away with our B-side, wow, they're only really missing Pandya and Bumra

I now genuinely think we have a real shot of winning the world cup next year, look at this side

Conway/Young (healthy competition the spot will always be filled by the one in-form)
Ravindra (future GOAT)
Williamson (GOAT of GOAT final outing for revenge)
Mitchell (Ross Taylor 2.0)
Latham (weak link, but ultra experienced now)
Philips (BMac reincarnate if he becomes consistent)
Bracewell (Neesham 1.5)
Santa (GOAT finisher strike rate 200% these days)
Henry (GOAT Boult 2.0)
Jamieson (tidy up death bowling will be lethal)
O'Rourke (future Henry)

Bowling wise we have 4 genuine threats plus Bracewell as 5th bowler, and Philips and Ravindra back ups, and gun fielders like Philips and Young. Henry needs to stop playing all 3 formats ODI WC is our priority, I'm still sad about 2019

Zac Foulkes with 0-67 from his 3 overs last night. The eyes from those Indian batters must’ve lit up when they saw the pies he was throwing down. Chased down 206 in 15 overs.

Wondering why nobody was getting excited. Back to the tennis now. I presume that is live. 😉

lol my highlight of the week was watching my ice queen coming back from 0:3 final set to win it all with an ace and almost a non-celebration

I thought the series thrashing was quite beneficial suddenly we know Allen and Seifert are our openers for the WC, Fergey's still got it embarrassingly our best T20 bowler still and we know who don't have it

Yeesh getting a scare from USA is a bit concerning
Zimbabwe was beaten by Oman.

To be honest, all of the associate teams are really just homes for the next layer down of Indian cricketers. For example Oman is entirely India/Pakistani born players playing at home in conditions that take the contest away from the bowler. Of course tier one teams should beat them, but as we saw in the India/NZ series where scores of 300 looked feasible in a T20I, there is little danger in throwing the bat at every ball.

The USA used to have a few handy Black Americans, but it seems to be largely India D now too. Plenty of good Indian born players coming through the NZ system too.

I think the world cup will feel a bit artificial. there will be new extremes pushed as the game continues to change at a rapid pace.

NZ has been written off, but I think we have a decent side. Probably just don't have the quick scorers (60 off 20) that you'll need in this WC apart from Allen.

14 year old Indian opener just hit 175 of 80balls in under 19 WC final with 150 in boundaries! India total on target to hit 450

Kid just cemented his + families financial future in 80 deliveries.
