Geez we watched Santa finding his true self in the home series vs England 10 years ago batting like a champ, then broke his wrist, steady ok progression since but now he’s our captain, best bowler with Henry and consistently teeing off like 40 off 15 balls at the death 😂🤯

Can he keep up till he’s 41 for 2 more world cups? He’s a spinner and started late, could surpass Vettori at this rate
 
Mitchell is literally our best batter lol, Ravindra turns it on in major tournaments, Kane his last ODI World Cup, Young and Conway fighting for one spot, Latham chokes at big tournaments, Philips is the new BMac with a better back, him Bracewell and Santa hopefully a solid bet to close out an innings, unless we have another closer? Chapman? 😂 Chokes like Boyd too. Neesham redemption?

Henry shouldn’t be playing all formats, he’s our best strike bowler, I like them making Jamieson bowl last overs to prep for WC, O’Rouke is awesome already and our future, I think he’s better opening the bowling but Kyle swings the ball? O’Rourke is not fast enough to be that first drop, Sears always injured. The rest of young bowlers I don’t think can take down India/Aus etc

If we keep our icons healthy we are a chance….2023 Kane was broken and Henry managed to injure himself twice vs South Africa and miss out beating India both times 😭 and I still have PTSD from 2019, Boult seems to have moved on 😭

1 more story on Santa, we went to the event to take photo ops with the Test champions trophy, got their posters for players to sign, BJ was there, so was Santa, we used the side of poster with the famous trophy lift for them to sign, and Santa wasn’t in the frame, dropped for the final 😂 It was awkward image.webp

I think he signed on Boult? 😂

We'll get white washed in Australia lol, it's a psychological thing and our batsmen can't handle the bounce and fast bowlers can't handle the hard surface for their run ups

We like to thrash the Indians, if Henry's in the side

There's always hope, they won't have Starc, Hazelwood, Lyons, Khawaja or Cummins by then I think. But yeah, we need them to be weak, them to have an amazingly bad run of performances and for us to unearth a couple of generational bowlers (actually, if our pace guys can stay fit that's not out of the question) and a couple of budding Kane Williamsons. Unlikely, but I'll be there for the Sydney test

I would drop Young back to domestic cricket in all forms, he needs to go back and rebuild like Nicholls has for me.

Maybe also have Curtis Heaphy as backup keeper batter to pressure Blundell.

I would love Mariu to get the nod ahead of Conway but also Conway deserves another crack after Zimbabwe and the recent form hes in.

Interested in your thoughts, especially you wrighty?

Yeah time for Mariu to come in. I thought Blundell was gone? Based on previous form I think he should be if I recollect correctly. I'd take Young over Nicholls, he's a far better test player I think, and I don't know that Jamieson is strong enough to be considered for tests. You only have to look at what happened with Archer in the second ashes innings, he faded right away.

Pretty certain Mitchell won't be playing, given his injury, at least not in the first test.

I will argue to the cows come home that young is not as good as Nicholls!

Nicholls started his career off great! Young has not.

Both have been out of form but Nicholls got the chop and young does not.

Nicholls has over 3000 runs for nz and 10 centuries, young has no tons and hasn't had a meaningful innings in a long time!

I think Nicholls has gone back and worked hard to get back in the fold, young has been given every oppertunity, he needs a reality check.

Must be other options to look at today are the future other than Young and Nicholls. Nicholls would be the luckiest player of recent times to get the amount of matches he has for the Black Caps

Well yes, Mariu and Jacobs stand out to me. But it wont happen just yet.

I think jacobs could be a good test batter. Probably takes Mitchell's place when hes done.

His test average is pretty poor, but he did well last year. Yeah, we should be looking younger I reckon
