Because of beating India in India, domination in a string of ODIs in the subcontinent, or the 2nd place finish in a global tournament?Gary stead please resign you have done your dash
All pace bowlers struggled on that pitch, it was 100x easier to bat with pace on than against the slow bowlers. I wouldn't say they "got found out".It took until the final game, but the black caps pace bowlers finally got found out. Everyone before the tournament knew they were the weak link in the squad bar Matt Henry.
There are a few things that I am finding difficult about it that make it different to the usual sour grapes scenario.
1. Without fully understanding the geopolitical relations the anti-Pakistan sentiment in Indian cricket seems pretty terrible from an outsider looking in. No Pakistanis invited to the IPL etc. I know some of the separation is due to security fears, but sport is the great uniter, and it doesn't seem that India is trying very hard.
2. A long time ago, but in 2003 NZ missed out on the finals of the Cricket World Cup after forfeiting a game against Kenya in Kenya due to a terrorist bombing in Mombasa and the fact that Al Qaeda were trying to shoot down passenger planes!! The ICC docked NZ's points and we were booted out. They even declined to shift the game to a neighbouring country despite the "tangible threat of terrorism."
If the matches were to be played in the UAE then at the very least the wickets should have been prepared to play in the same way as the very batting friendly pitches of Lahore.
