I know Conway is slowly playing himself back into form, but the commentators were saying young is only there because ravindra is out. I think young should have the opening role locked down now. He’s in form, in an important tournament, play the guys in form. Ravindra and young to open, Williamson Mitchell and Latham. That’s a strong batting line up.

Unless they drop the extra spinner in bracewell? Bat Phillips at 7. Conway young Williamson Mitchell Latham ravindra Philips santner smith Henry o’rourke?

Probably horses for courses but my main point is they can’t drop young now, he’s probably the most in form batsman in these conditions (aside for Kane), that we have now

Contrary to popular belief, Will Young hasn't been in great form this year, averaging just 12.11 in his last 9 innings prior to this 100. This score was an important one for him as Conway has taken his opportunity since Ravindra's injury with scores of 97, 48 and 66. If Young failed in this innings it would have been an easy ish decision for the selectors to leave him out when Ravindra returns, now it's not so easy. Personally I think they'll go with Ravindra and Young.

I see your point but he has averaged 50 for this summer

that might be a bit harsh.... his ODI record is pretty impressive despite a recent run of low scores

I understand that, hence why he was picked over Conway initially (as well as Conway's NZC contract situation or lack thereof..) but he hasn't looked fluent in the most recent past, including the Supersmash before heading to Pakistan. The rich vein of form he was in at the back end of 24' had tapered off and batting wasn't looking as easy at it was for him. There's no doubting in my mind that he should be in the side, but Ravindra's injury and Conway taking opportunities he probably wasn't expecting to get, has muddled the waters somewhat.

I feel surprisingly confident for some reason with it been such a short tournament and we are in great form, like we can actually win it. Many competing for spots, multiple captains on the field to work on strategies, feels 2015 again

Especially our side characters ended up destroying the host/defending champs with calmness, and we have 3 good to great spinners

My concern would be death bowling, Henry has improved a lot but Will doesn’t know how to bowl there right now, Smith is raw and hot and cold? No idea how to resolve and could be our downfall, probably go all in early and choke them with spinners

I was hoping Conway to have a good one then we don’t need to pick Ravindra, he has no form coming in, maybe they’re going to risk him vs Bahgladesh to warm up, he has the highest ceiling in Asia. Young is a lock for me left right hand combo, centurion, this could be event where he levels up. Conway can’t catch either, but neither can Rachin 😂 Keep Philips and Bracewell 6 and 7, our batting firepower seems to be still there from 2023 ODI World Cup, it’s our bowlers that are weaker

So good to have blockbuster players like Philip, Ravindra, O’Rourke etc, looking forward to Sears, Shipley, Jamieson stay fit and fight out for spots for 2027, can you imagine if they get through this event and iron out their craft for 2 more years? It’s important because it’s the farewell World Cup for our greatest player ever, and we actually have the talents to groom to peak to help him win it

I have to say, watching the way the Champions Trophy is being advertised on Sky, it's not a case of "Do you WANT TO WIN!?" It's a case of, to qoute the 12th Man, "Do you Dream To Wear The Cream!? Do you think You Can Hack It In The Ivory Jacket!?"

Hope they haven’t started advertising like meet your idols Kohli and Smith 😂
