Sports 🏏 Black Caps

Is Doug Bracewell's black cap career done and dusted. Been playing as a batsman lately while he recovers from injury.
His innings today was impressive. Also caught his 93 not out the other day. He's seeing it like a beach ball at the moment. Has also returned to light bowling duties. Would be a handy number 7 in the T20I side whenever Santner or Neesham are unavailable.

At the highest level, even extreme pace is cannon-fodder unless you can move the ball. Milne and Ferguson don't, they would be one-dimensional in test cricket. This is what made Bond a freak.

Steyn's main weapons were movement and accuracy. Bowling at a good clip made him world class.

Starc swings the ball. Hazelwood and Cummins hit the seam. Hazelwood is metronomic and relentless, Cummins bowls a heavy ball. Ferguson can't replicate what they offer.

The most "Australian" type bowler we have is Jamieson, who is just quick enough.
Does Mark Wood move the ball?
I am not disagreeing with you. Just making conversation.

Black caps are quietly building some depth. I think the black caps would be better suited with Bracewell or Clarkson in that 6 position. Neesham as back up.

I think any batsman who gets out reverse sweeping should have his bat shoved up his arse when he gets back in the changing room
Particularly when they play that shot and it's well protected and a high risk shot for little return. Or if we have already scored fairly heavily off the over already. I get it if there isn't anyone there and the return for the shot is higher.

Also infuriating when we are playing on a pitch where sweeping normally isn't very easy and the batsman tries a reverse sweep and gets out. I think Latham did it recently.

Not often you'd be disappointed with 194 but we definitely left a few runs out there, probably needed more out of Chapman and Phillips. Good innings by Finn Allen altho geez as much as he could hit any given ball over the fence i still get the feeling he can get out at any time.
Reminds me of (for those that can remember) Craig Spearman, who could play some amazing strokes but could only last about 15/16 balls an innings.

The amount of injuries Williamson seems to be picking up these days is concerning.

Early wickets will be key in the chase. Pakistan have some good strokemakers.

My NZ ATG Test Side

1 Turner
2 Wrighty - Richardson averaged more but Wright did it against harder attacks
3 Kane
4 Crowe
5 Rossco
6 Sutcliffe
7 D Vettori
8 Hadleei
9 Ian Smith (Keeper)
10 Tim Southee
11 Trent Boult

Sorry Jack Cowie and Donnelly etc

The only problem with my side is that there is no realistic 5th bowling option. Kane has a suspect action and so maybe Martin needs to bowl five overs of rubbish slow medium each day
No Shane Bond?

I know injury curtailed his career and only played 18 tests, but for mine easily the best NZ fast bowler ive seen since Hadlee.

Great team. I would have to find a place for John Reid. The Wellington one
Yeah not a bad team from Wrighty. My only changes would have been Bond for Southee, BMac as my keeper/batsmen for Smithy (who purely on keeping ability yeah was number one), Sutcliffe to open instead of Wright, and possibly Chris Cairns or Reid as my all rounder.

1. Glen Turner
2. Bert Sutcliffe
3. Kane Williamson
4. Martin Crowe
5. Ross Taylor
6. Brendon McCullum
7. Chris Cairns
8. Richard Hadlee
9. Daniel Vettori
10. Shane Bond
11. Trent Boult
