This Fakhar can certainly hit the ball
And then Ish sends him back to the sideline
Yup pumped up with the wicket then next ball got pumped for 6 back over his headI think Sodhi's pumped up celebration probably stems from the hiding he took from Fakhar in the WC. Sodhi bowls so many bad balls at the moment - at least 2 an over.
Geez Azam looked big behind the stumps, but he is massive when standing in front of those stumps. I wonder if he is as graceful as other rotund batsman like Ranatunga or Inzamam with the bat.
It's the weirdest thing, after Mitchell does well (which is quite often compared to our other batsmen these days) and posters get on and say "Mitchell played well"......it sets Wrighty off on a tirade saying we all must think he's better than Tendulkar, Williamson, Crowe and whoever else (which of course no one but Wrighty has ever mentioned in the same breath)..At the risk of opening up a black hole...
Why is your avatar calling Daryl mitchell overrated Wrighty ?
He has discovered the right mental approach to an inning which is to attack from ball one. And is possibly the first new zealander I can recall who conisistently does this. The Australians call this being busy at the crease. Most of our guys potter around surviving until they get one with their name on it. However his technique will catch up with him and his averages in ODI cricket and Test cricket are probably about 20 runs over rated at the moment. He should be averaging in the 30s in test and ODIs relative to how good he actually is.At the risk of opening up a black hole...

He's averaging whatever runs are coming off his bat and that's all that matters. He has discovered the right mental approach to an inning which is to attack from ball one. He actually averages 50 plus in those forms of the game which makes him among the elite cricketers in the world to have ever played cricket in the last 200 years. Including Gooch, Gower and Alan Border. Is he better than those three legends? Well you blokes seem to think he is because you defend him and say he is good value for his 53 run test match average and worth every penny of it.
It is like he has paid $9.99 for the hack code to cricket and is pressing shift left and button B on his remote controller to do a secret move.
He is an imposter and is showing up some legends of the game with his batting record.
He has done it over a number of years and in different countries with different playing conditions. Yeah it could be more luck than skill but in my experience that consistency he has shown disproves that.He has discovered the right mental approach to an inning which is to attack from ball one. That's the best post I have read in his defence. Good post.I think he's a good example of what you can achieve in cricket as a late bloomer. Done a proper apprenticeship.
The backbone of the great aussie sides is the likes of Hussey, Chris Rogers etc scored 10,000 first class runs before getting a baggy green.
His ODI and Test averages are way above first class and list A which shows how his experience has helped him adjust.
Just think he knows his game inside out which helps him be consistent
If he is an imposter it is taking other sides a long time to find him out.He has discovered the right mental approach to an inning which is to attack from ball one. But some sides have "figured him out"If he is an imposter it is taking other sides a long time to find him out.
The names you mention in your post as legends are regarded as such because of their statistics - you can’t have it both ways Wrighty, either stats mean something or they don’t
What have other NZ batsmen averaged in those same matches/seriesBut some sides have "figured him out"
While he has bossed England and Pakistan and averages over 70 against them the following countries have contained him in tests
1) against bangers averaged 28
2) against India averages 34
3) against South africa averages 33
4) against West Indies averages 26
Yet to play Australia in tests
I am going to slither like an eel away from this topic as if it keeps going someone is going to flame me soon. What have other NZ batsmen averaged in those same matches/series
Would you be picking him currently? If not who would you be replacing him with?
What are your thoughts on Henry Nichols and his batting?
