Philips takes crazy catches like Chris Harris and Jonty Rhodes but drops catches my Grandad could take and he died 20 years ago.

Yeah, and if they had bought Santner in they would have left Smith out for this testLooking at the stats, we've got some young gun bowlers coming through, and Henry
Southee's just taking up a spot for his retirement series on green pitches. The other young express paceman should be playing. Maybe Wagner Southee for the last test lol, poetic justice

Still looks like early overs will be tough going. I'd take 2/80So about 30 overs to bat tonight? 80+ for no loss, 2 wickets max hopefully by stumps
Yeah, have been sitting here for a while hopeing he'll get back into form, but the way hes going I'd drop him for WA Warrior grandad.Conway has to go! Bring in Rhys Mariu.
I think wickets in hand are more important than runs tonightSo about 30 overs to bat tonight? 80+ for no loss, 2 wickets max hopefully by stumps
Yes 20 and outYeah, have been sitting here for a while hopeing he'll get back into form, but the way hes going I'd drop him for WA Warrior grandad.
Probably looks the most likely to go the short ball Wagner route when there's nothing on.I like Smith. Can be erratic and leak a few runs but there is always something happening with him. Creates opportunities. 3 wickets plus a run out. Always competing
For sure the signs were there well before the Indian series (where we caught everything) fielding standards had slipped. The bizarre thing was that it was the fragile fielding that was the biggest factor. Considering we were sent in to bat and 280 was the average 1st innings score at Hagley 348 was not great, but still competitive. We produced 20 good pieces of cricket which they say is what you need to do to win a test. Smith was great in his early spells and deserved those catches to be made. I just hope Latham and Phillips get their catching confidence back as I have never seen them drop so many before.
Still only 22 as well. Nice to see a young un scoring heavily. NZ A probably the next step......if he scores runs there then 100% should be given a shot....especially with Latham and Conway strugglingRhys Mariu 129* and still going as the next hit out after his 240 last week. Averaging mid 60s opening the batting.
That Indian series was a massive anomaly of a result. This is how we have been heading for a while now.Embarrassing.
