Haha. That reminds me of the YouTube video for Iron Maiden's Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

A guy posted how his teacher was really impressed that he knew about this old poem. His response "listening to Iron Maiden sir".
Our English Teacher used the Iron Maiden song to help teach the poem

Interesting rumour out of Wellington …

Head coach . Steve Hansen.

Assistant : Jamie Joesph

Technical Advisor : Richie McCaw

Let’s see if the rumour mill is correct .

Lead through to World Cup 2027. Steve will step down … Jamie steps up Tony Brown return’s to be assistant after Sth Africa obligation done.

Saw Devlin 2 weeks ago saying the news reported were union asked Hansen and Foster πŸ˜‚ They including the guy who’s been shouting sack Razor for a year all thought it was gonna be a straight swap of Joseph and this is a bad look

Could be Joseph saw how it went down and Brown said no for this cycle so they need to bring back Rob Penny 2024 version to ride out dead rubber time πŸ˜‚ otherwise Joseph losing 0:4 or 1:3 to SA and knocked out at quarters he will not survive, Hansen will take the fall if this comes true

NZRU what a fluster cuck

Hanson would be the only one that would have a chance at toppling South Africa currently with his win rate

They should just let Razor have a go and if it’s 4:0 they have the whole public behind to sack him. Hansen’s the guy that started the ABs downward trajectory in 2017 against the lions and SA and eventually outplayed by Eddie Jones England. He has nothing on Rassie

The only guys capable IMO are Wayne Smith, Joe Schmit or Tony Brown and the former let his feelings know already and I reckon they should have offered Brown the head job if they really want him right now, he’s not going from Assistant of world champions to assistant of a country without a CEO

Hanson with close to 90% win rate didn’t start their downward trajectory, Foster was the first to lose to Argentina but he also nearly got us to a world cup victory over SA a man down. Wayne Brown for sure amongst it would be great

Actually think the Henry/Hansen/Foster succession was a smart move and helped keep some solid IP continuation and handover without the teething issues. Foster was probably the weak link but he also lost the bulk of the support that the others had.
Razor was kind of a figurehead at the top of a solid system that got shown up a bit when left to do it by himself. If even half the stories coming out are true then there’s no way he could have continued.
Might see him come back again ala a Wayne Smith with some learning but he gives the impression of a man with an ego so not sure

Dalton Papali’i outta here. You reckon there’s anything to those rumours Cces?
I dunno. The guy, Guy from SportNation, didn't try hide from what he got caught out saying in a private group, to a random bloke who messaged him (me) so he's confident there's some truth, despite the Northern Tour part being blatantly wrong.
Papali'i is breaking his contract, which he re-signed last year, a season early.
On the radio today they read a text saying something about "wait for the book".
My conclusion is, I have no idea 🀣

Auckland NPC kicked out of Eden Park and Moana Pacifica folding and making all the players redundant - good week for NZ rugby.

Amd the 2025 NZRU annual report is due out next month...

Probably appetite to have local league teams in Wellington and Christchurch by now and the crowd number will beat union

If the Hurricanes (1st) played the Blues (3rd) last weekend in front of only a crowd of only 13,574 there is no future for Super Rugby.
I can't remember the last time I watched a Super game on the tele, yet alone live, but I've no doubt the crowds can return if they market it right. Under previous management the Warriors drew a crowd of 15.6K at home despite being on a 5-match win streak to begin 2018

Early season hope. We'd signed Blair, Hiku, Harris, Beale and Green so that's a pretty good group to nab and everyone at that point still loved Mr Kearney and thought he'd be The Man.

As to the rugby:
If Sanzar/Whoever runs Super Rugby have any brains, they'll go with a Home And Away system for next season. Nice and simple for fans to follow where the only possible downside is teams meeting each other twice two quickly ie within 4 rounds. Not a mess like the NRL draw frankly is where I have no idea how the NRL decide which teams we play twice and which we don't and we always miss playing some team I'd like to go up against twice...
But NZ Rugby, still stuck in the amateur days, still thinking "We've got the best provincial competition in The World, so we're sorted!"... They won't even consider moving the NPC forward so it's a curtainraiser for Super Rugby games, will just allow the Northern Hemisphere nations to send their B/C Teams in June/July but will send our A Team in November and then whine about how tired the players are and that's why they've got to be out of Super Rugby for x games which pisses fans off etc etc.

The NZRU is going broke - 2030 is the year the house of cards is likely to fall over;
* There is no plan in place for Super Rugby after 2030
* The Sky TV deal ends in 2030 (and the current deal is worth 25% less than the previous deal)
* Silver Lake want their $262.5m back plus the garanteed ROI (about $400m the NZRU doesnt have)

They are fucked.

The NRL is currently experiencing record-breaking financial health, reporting AUD $845.6 million in revenue and a $64.8 million surplus for 2025.
In contrast, NZR continues to face structural challenges, recording a $19.5 million deficit for 2024 and owe an american investment company $400m it doesnt have.

I think Australia is getting more crowd attendance than NZ teams. And NZRU are subsidizing women’s teams too and not disclosing the financial result last year

Ironic they kicked out Japan and Argentina from the comp

I think Christchurch and Dunedin are still getting good crowd, Hamilton here seems keen but probably only packing 2/3? AKL and WEL seems they are done, I was surprised even the All Whites games weren’t sold out this year
