RIP - will need to check out Jeremiah Johnson one day, now that I finally looked up where the "beardy man approves" meme came from!

I think the most recent non-MCU film I saw of his was The Company You Keep with Shia Lebouf, which I enjoyed. Wouldn't mind checking out The Sting again, and a few of his other all-time classics.

As for current movies, finally went to the new Naked Gun movie last night with a mate.

It was... interesting 😅 doesn't hold a candle to the originals, but there were at least a few genuinely laugh-out-loud moments amongst all the "umm... okkkkk?" moments.
I didn't have high expectations so it gets a pass, but I was hoping for funnier in all honesty.

I at least appreciated the 'nice beaver' cameo (literally just part of the background in a scene - not a gag, but I liked the callback) and couple of wrestlers popping up randomly (Cody Rhodes and Batista).

Bit of a shock to see Lee Tamahori has passed away. Once were warriors was one of the most impactful movies in NZ, even around the world

Way back I lived in the same little NZ town as him, place called Te Puia Springs out on the East Coast. Went to school with his son.

For him to go from an isolated place like that all the way to Hollywood and directing James Bond movies and Sopranos episodes is incredible.

He’s got a great resume. Mullholland Falls is a classic

Somehow I'd never seen Falling Down before finally watching it last night.

What a ride. Didn't know Douglas had that kind of performance in him and always nice to see Bobby Duvall.

As for for the movies themes and message, looks like interpretations of what's presented vary wildly.

Can't believe the Batman & Robin guy made this movie.

Chur Te Puia. I have bones around the coast too.

First Christmas movie of the year for me - Silent Night, Deadly Night remake 😅 feels like 90% of the movies I've seen at the cinema this year have been horror-related hah!

Cheesy as expected but surprisingly entertaining for a modern horror (based on an even cheesier 80s horror).

Will go to latest Avatar at Imax at some point over the break, I've heard it's over 3 hours though so that'll be a slog, but I have seen the others in Imax 3D too so gotta keep up tradition.
Bonus for me is keeping an eye out for the scene I was supposed to be an extra for, but didn't end up filming (was in the Weta studio for a day way back in 2019 drinking tea and eating biscuits listening to machine gun sounds go off somewhere in the distance all dressed up in an orange jumpsuit feeling like a Rebel pilot from Star Wars, but the actual on-set kept getting delayed to the point of not happening and never got called back in).

They gave the part to your ginger stunt double, @Fizurg

Finally got around to seeing the new Predator movie - unknowingly the session was 4-D which I probably wouldn’t have gone to had I known.
Actually enjoyed the new take but get those who felt it was maybe too ‘Disneyafied’
