Will go to latest Avatar at Imax at some point over the break, I've heard it's over 3 hours though so that'll be a slog, but I have seen the others in Imax 3D too so gotta keep up tradition.
Bonus for me is keeping an eye out for the scene I was supposed to be an extra for, but didn't end up filming (was in the Weta studio for a day way back in 2019 drinking tea and eating biscuits listening to machine gun sounds go off somewhere in the distance all dressed up in an orange jumpsuit feeling like a Rebel pilot from Star Wars, but the actual on-set kept getting delayed to the point of not happening and never got called back in).

So I just got out of Avatar 2.5 πŸ˜…

As expected it was visually spectacular (especially in Imax 3D), but story was basically more of the same, but this time some of the big blue peeps love FIRE (to go with the big blue peeps that love WATER introduced in the second one).

I enjoyed myself, but don't see myself watching it again ever hah, much like the first two.

As for what "my scene" ended up being, that I didn't film over 6 years ago hah, couldn't see anyone wearing the costume I was fitted with back then, so maybe I wouldn't have made the final cut anyway πŸ˜…

Watched both 28 years Bone Temple and Marty Supreme I rate both I think bone temple is an improvement on the predecessor with great performances from Fiennes and O’Connell and Marty Supreme is a great movie Timmy O carries the movie and is worthy of Oscar praise

I really loved both the recent 28 years movies. The last 10 minutes of the bone temple were electric.
Fiennes was amazing in both.

Im off to see Marty Supreme this week. Some great movies recently

Saw Twins was on netflix so fired it up for some nostalgia. Still a good flick.

No one's ever been hotter than Kelly Preston in her 80's glory.

Was at the wedding for my horror-loving mate this weekend, they picked the Gear Homestead in Porirua, which is a very lovely venue.

I do wonder how much longer after they'd settled on the venue that he revealed it was one of the main locations for Peter Jackson's gorefest Bad Taste πŸ˜… luckily I didn't see anyone attempt to recreate the 'chunky bit' spew in a bowl scene 🫒

I'll go see Bone Temple, had low expectations for it after the weirdness of the last one, but still want to see at cinema just to see what the hell that ending was about, plus I just like movies at the movie theatre regardless of how good or sh!t they end up being.

While I didn't necessarily dislike 28 Years Later, I was generally underwhelmed after the trailer promised an atmosphere that only lasted maybe half an hour before the weirdness and uber-zombie-appendages kicked in :ROFLMAO:

If you didnt like the Alpha zombie with the big one in the first one... let's just say it's very prominent in this new one haha.

So you are saying go see it in Imax 3D right? :ROFLMAO:

Starting to make sense why this one is called "Bone Temple" πŸ’€

Watched Labyrinth on the weekend at The Embassy in Welly with my mum, as it was having 40th anniversary screenings around the place and she was already in town for other reasons.
Pretty sure I hadn't seen it at the cinema back in the day (my earliest memory of going to cinema was Masters of the Universe the year after in 1987), though mum seems to think we had, regardless was still a fun old time all around.
She was having a good old laugh, especially at Sir Didymus the overly-brave fox dude and his valiant steed Ambrosius the cowardly sheepdog. πŸ˜…

Each time Bowie broke out into song it did feel a lot cheesier in my old age compared to when I watched over and
over again as a youngster, and Sarah's moody teen petulance was both a lot more funny (and equal amounts annoying) to me in retrospect, but was absolutely loving all the puppetry and practical effects. I remember we had the behind the scenes feature recorded from TV as well that we rewatched almost as much as the movie, and specifically remember trying to recreate the Helping Hands with our own versions of hand-faces back in the day πŸ˜…

Like a lot of retro movies I never saw at cinema but did a million times on VHS recorded from TV, my brain was constantly thinking "oh there's a commercial break" hah πŸ˜…

Speaking of MOTU, just saw the new trailer for that, looks like it'll be a bit of fun.
Already looks a lot more colourful and action packed than the 80s movie, and seemingly a lot more based in Eternia, even though I'm sure a large chunk of the film will still be set on Earth. Skeletor looks pretty badass, hoping Jared Leto gets the voice right hah! They better have Skeletor doing a "TILL WE MEET AGAIN *run away*" moment :ROFLMAO:

Between this, Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat II - gonna be a lot of reliving my childhood this year!

Just watched The Rip on Netflix definitely an airplane movie stacked cast but was hoping for abit more

Yeah set up of the Damon v Affleck conflict was interesting and pretty well done, but once the Damon character reveals the game it all feels a bit anticlimactic and the ending is a bit of a whimper.

Like that MOTU and Street fighter look to be rolling out a bit of visually fun β€˜camp’ that’s not shying away from the source material.
Let’s be honest the original He-Man and Street fighter didn’t have a hell of a lot of substance to it rather than just being β€˜cool’

Watched Mercy and Primate on the weekend Mercy interesting concept albeit very predictable good performances from Pratt and Ferguson and Primate just a cliche horror some of the gory scenes are surprisingly well done

Just saw Marty Supreme.

Stressful movie - the director seems to make these really stressfully paced movies with slightly unlikeable flawed lead characters.

Bone Temple wasn't my thing. Ok movie from my pov but I guess I am not a big Fan of Fiennes and his eccentricities...probably comes from having worked in an Asylum, as Shania said, that don't impress me much....same reason Hannibal Lecture didn't put me off Fava beans.

The MOTU movie looks like it could be fun. My kids are already keen to go.

A lot of talk with the Earth element. I'm fine with it as it has a story element. The 87 movie was due to budget and effects constraints of the time. Now with special effects, if they can do Asgard, they can do Eternia.

Saw What's Eating Gilbert Grape was on the TVNZ app so fired it up for the first time in years.

Leo is unbelievable (who says you can never go Full R*****) and Depp underplays the title role beautifully.

The balance of humour and drama is really nice and there's some darkly funny stuff there.

Wonderful cinematography too.
