Winnie has an interesting choice after the election if he's in the "Kingmaker role" again. Hipkins said on Kerrie Woodham's show that he's considering means testing NZ Super while Luxon is talking about raising the age.
Personally, I think Labour's approach will win more votes as theirs would only affect those with enough to get over whatever threshold they set while National's approach would affect everyone if the age of entitlement is increased. In other words, greed will win because, for most people, means testing won't affect them.... only the rich bustards.
Of course, Labour's way will go against the social contract currently in place..... people are happy to pay tax now to go to superannuants because, when they're entitled to it, those younger than them will pay for their super.

That sounds like Oz, where I came to the realisation that their super is essentially a tax you canāt get out of but everyone wins and itās made the country a mile richer than us.
Tho those that work hardest/smartest get the greatest reward in retirement. And if youāve done f all. You get the minimum, otherwise itās user pays.
My old man who worked in nz for 30 years, canāt collect any nz pension as it would be counted towards oz pension. Itās the way it should be.
Nz system is completely unsustainable. Iāll back Labour as at least the young people of this country can have some hope. Raising the age to 67 matches Oz, but just benefits the wealthy. Not those who canāt actually afford to retire.

The reporter fell on her sword over multiple examples of substandard, unethical behaviour including stuff that hasnāt come out.
