Sadly, we are unlikely/shouldn't tie up the cash in both Tanah and CHT that may be required to keep them. We have gone in already on Metcalf, I'd rather keep CHT ahead of Tanah. Or we turn Metcalf into a 1, and if that causes him to leave then the cash issue is sorted.

He went to Prague with Nathan and Pat Carrigan after the 2022 world cup so I would assume he is mates with Nathan.

Brad Tavares on some fight podcast a few months ago talked about Richard Fale. Didn't realise Fale was Hawaiian and a Politician? Anyway.

Apparently Mr Fale told a group of loud men at a restaurant in Hawaii to shut it. They're to noisy. A guy yelled or what? Richard said you don't want to find out.
When the guy approached Mr Fale, He got up out of his seat ready to take off his dinner jacket. But kept it on and instead asked for a photo with Mr Max Holloway

I would hope that if someone had enticed CHT's signature that we convince him to stay during cooling off period. He is a Warrior, is good for the club and the club has been good to him. It was a huge gesture to give him a top 30 contract after a year off.

When we re-signed him it was 6 months since his last game, the RLWC Final. We hardly took a punt on the guy & there would have been multiple other clubs eager to sign him

It’s not like he was the 2026 version back then. He was establishing himself as a genuine first grader, he was a good talent but not superstar material. The Wahs had also been awful in 22 having their worst season ever.

You can say it was 6 months when he signed - but he was still missing a full season at a developmental time in his career. I am pleased he did what was best for him in taking a break but I don’t think he was hot property in the middle of his year off.

CHT sort of reminds me of a Josh Reynolds type 6. Passing game is average, kicking game is average, running game is average, but everything else that is not measured in stats is done at a high level. Plus his defence is top notch. I've always said his type of game needs to be paired with a dominant 7, and with Boyd he certainly fits in this side very well.

We have signed Metcalf, CHT, TMM and Boyd are unsigned. TMM is gone you would say. But I don't know if we can keep Boyd and CHT happy with a new deal.. Could be one or the other. CHT and Metcalf wasn't a great combo, we looked clunky most the year on attack and Metcalf clutched up alot to scrape us over the line. Metcalf and Boyd has looked bad, but I think it's harsh to compare with the lack of play time together.

I feel Boyd's skills are more valuable..

If Nathan Cleary is going to market and looking for a new challenge, that’s where I’d be targeting. He and Metcalf in the halves and his brother backup

It's likely time they sit down together and start talking seriously about winning a premiership together over this and the next two seasons and what compromises and sacrifices that would entail..
