Madge is the coach you bring in when you have a premiership ready roster like Souths 14 years ago and Broncos today. Don't think he's the man if you need a rebuild though as the WT experience showed. Same thing with Robbo at the chooks.Hell of a coaching story from Maguire. First year coachign them and he gets a premiership.
A premiership at two clubs.
Super League
State of Origin
Kiwis Series win
Does show if you take over a decent roster you can go well early. Not always a 3 year rebuild.
They have done well turning around from the spoon in 2020.
As always with any premiership. Jealous until we get one.
Yeah. Lots of 'bloody' in thereWalsh addressing the nation like a PM![]()
That is fair. Like any coach it is a matter of finding the right club.Madge is the coach you bring in when you have a premiership ready roster like Souths 14 years ago and Broncos today. Sydney teams. The favored ones. That is fair. Like any coach it is a matter of finding the right club.
He may not need to rebuild the Broncos with their resources. The challenge might be the player coach relationship and how long it lasts. A lot of the intense guys can eventually get offside with players or management.
Robertson at the Rooster got the stacked premiership to start with when they recruited big before he arrived. Even after lean years he's managed to recruit out of it to turn it around.
Wish webby had that philosophyInteresting both fullbacks are the same type, and you can coach them how to speed bump or harass on defense, whereas you can’t get a workhorse fullback to light up the attack
different coaches have different strengths. Madge's intense style is probably the way to get the best out of the genuine stars who just need a push to make that transition to super stardom. Probably less ideal for development teams like us that have a lot of players on the up who are still learning and developing their craft. Webby is much better at that imo. That is fair. Like any coach it is a matter of finding the right club.

the difference being bluey hadn't won shit when we signed him. Really his only claim to fame was that 2005 tri nations win where Aussie didn't show up in the final because they thought they had it in the bag. So signing him and letting Cleary go when he never wanted to leave was the dumbest decision we've made as a club (Letting Ali go in 2004 probably was dumber).Seeing coaches becoming like players.
They fit certain holes/positions.
What you say is what some people said about Brian McLennan: Give him a premiership winning roster and he'll get you that Premiership. Of course, the Warriors didn't listen to that and signed him up for 3/4 seasons....Didn't last 1. Will Madge last 3/4 at the Broncos if there's a serious player exit?
