Great to see how enthusiastic Capewell is for the upcoming season. He’s been through plenty of preseasons and for him to be so excited seems a good sign. Interesting in the full interview that he says our fitness was an issue last year with how we’d drift in and out of games

Interesting to know if by fitness he means healthy or actually means fitness which would be a massive concern surely.

Does perhaps match up with AW's comments around JFH lifting the intensity at training

I saw an interview with AW where he said they may have done the shorter pre-season (with finals) wrongly and finding the balance during the shorter pre-seasons and longer ones is something he has learnt. Also they spent a lot more time on mental skills before 2023, and not as much before 2024.

Just a note for those who want RTS at FB over CNK.
In 100 more appearances RTS has registered 23 more tries and 23 more try assists.
Bear in mind Rog did that across time with The Roosters and us. CNK did it with The Raiders and us

100 more or 100 total for each? You mean RTS 200 and CNK 100 sort of thing? so CNK better?
CNK has played something like 112 games, Rog 213 or something like that.

CNK also has a better tackle efficiency, Rog does have more line breaks.

To be fair I love RTS, just trying to illustrate that CNK does not get the credit he deserves and I think RTS's skills are better suited to the wing and CNK better suited to FB

I think you would need to compare tries per game and try assists per game to make those stats meaningful (aside from any other context). For example, without knowing the actual numbers, the stats as you've written them could mean:
*Roger 53 tries in 200 games/Charnze 30 tries in 100 games = better strike rate for Charnze, or
*Roger 33 tries in 200 games/Charnze 10 tries in 100 games = better strike rate for Roger

(I am sure it's not the lower figure but you get the picture)

Clear they're under instruction not to say too much eh? I mean there was the obvious counter beat about lacking fitness and cohesiveness last year (tried to walked it back when he'd admitted to it) but also not giving anything away on personnel or positional changes. I think this is a good thing, as long as they haven't disappeared down a long dark one-way lane... makes those first games even more interesting. Obvious I know but the high focus on the starting blocks is encouraging

Everything should be geared to winning this first game. This first game is the only game of the season where they get this much time to do that. If we get rolled easily, then you would have to very quickly look at what we are doing and what we have done before we get too far in to the season. Conversely if we win then we will look like we are on the right path.

You can guarantee Ricky is looking at this as a one off game and will have his team ready to go.

Vegas is a long way to go to get beaten and its a long trip back without two competition points.

Yeah, interesting one that - it's definitely an opportunity to hang it all out, given there's a longer recovery period after - play it like a finals match - hoping the organization is smart enough not to let the logistical challenges touch the squad
