Huh, you kidding? Old as Tohu looking he's at the heart of what we do in the middle, has an engine that gets through a tonne of work on defence and can still offer a lot on attack for the whole 80mins. He's not your run of the mill lock, got way more strings to his bow, particularly over an Ale.

If we ain't playing a specialist 13 like Tohu the next best is someone who can run hard, tackle and break the line - Ale ain't that!
Week after week Tohu is cooked and not in the defence line from about the 10th minute. His tackles are weak and ineffective and are never dominant. He cannot slide laterally and he cannot cover breaks. When he takes a hit up on the 4th tackle he routinely fails to get a quick ptb. I showed pics last week and I'll do it again this week.

A lot of our games have had periods where are all over the opposition and then we lose momentum and leak points.

The two weird exception are the Storm and Souths games. But different reasons. The Storm we started poor and managed to work our way back into it, which is what we were doing last year.

The Souths game was a case of poor opposition. We got a lot of hype after that game with people dissecting our plays. Not a lot of them have worked through the middle since then though.

The injuries aren't helping. A few of the guys on the injured list would help. The coach said he sees it as a challenge. It might be a case of showing faith in the youngsters especially Laban and Zyon Maiu’u to start with. Get some first grade time in both of them as we wait for guys to come back. When everyone is fit they either stay in first grade on merit or we send them back to NSW Cup hungry for more first grade time and can bring them back when needed knowing if they can handle it or not.

I still think Ale offers less in his place. Sifakula's spot for 2025

Too soon to say Zyon Maiu’u is the answer, needs to back it up next week. If he does though I am going to lobby for him to moved up the prop pecking order. Very promising debut. And he had learned a valuable lesson from this trial match send off. He was excited today but he didn't get over excited or carried away excessively. Well done young man. I am giving him a 7.5. Would give him higher if he had more minutes. Excited to see him go next week. He was the positive to come out of this week.

Defense was so crap that the Penrith like kick deep and defend was a waste of time through the middle of the game, played like amateurs for 40 minutes, 4 tries from stupid errors or mistackles, that one from Laban due to inexperience

SJ had no timing with Barney clearly

Looked more threatening when competing for bombs

Been calling them to bomb to RTS and worked until they ruled a knock on, should keep going

Even some grubber and repeat sets to draw the outside defense in would be nice

Inside pass to Roger to exploit the middle need to be persisted with

Zyon Maiu’u was massive lol, where has he been?
Yeah agree on your sentiments about Roger. Finally starting to see different ways to unlock him by allowing to come back into the inside instead of running him out of space all the time. Still think he needs to pick his moments more instead of looking for yardage. He’s the weapon that can break open games

Sadly you are correct.
Feel for him. Been a great servant to the game but the time has come.
Too slow. No cover defence. No effective ball playing and not effective in taking it up.
Ale to 13 and Zyon Maiu’u to prop with AFB.
Barnett off the bench.
SJ to be the skipper.
Give him some responsibility

we had shit performances like this last year as well. For example the bunnies and chooks games at Mt Smart last year. People forget that it was only 2 weeks ago that we were the best defensive team in the comp and we were looking as strong as we did last year. So the team has it in them to go deep this year, we have simply lost our way in the last 2 games. There is nothing here that isn't fixable. So to proclaim that the season is done after 2 bad performances is highly premature.
Im not saying its not fixable...but we havent looked the same team this whole season. One good game against a team that looks similarly as horrible as we do right now and a few scraped in wins against alsorans in the raiders and knights. Other than that our performances have been plagued by below average defence, low iq attack and a habit of welting under the adversity of not being able to score whilst having dominance of possesion. If you think the 23 and 24 teams look remotely comparable you are kidding yourself.

No sure about the 10th minute. Not saying it didn't happen just I didn't notice it. It was noticeable in the second half.

Having him at 13 helps with our size in the middle early. But it might be a case of instead of moving him into the front row to straight replace him when Walker comes on. Give him a spell then.

The coach has said he shouldn't be playing 80. It might pay to pull it back a bit more.

Walker played some big minutes for a guy coming back from injury. I was thinking having him start at 13 should be considered. Then have CHT on at 14 when he is available.

Bro, I love the guy but no. Laban was putting shots on and Harris was arm grabbing. Theres no area Tohu is excelling that cant be covered by another player.

I don't mind losing and it can be helpful but I would prefer to see changes made when you can see things aren't working and looks like Webster is going to be a coach very reluctant to make changes. Every approach has its upsides and the advantage to Websters approach is that we will be keeping the same combinations week in week out.
Look Men and Ladies of the forum we lost by three points. Every season I have seen you end up winning and losing 50% of the close matches. We lost a close one to Melbourne and now to Goldie, we will get our share of close victories.

Same line up for next week I predict unless he rests Shaun. Can't imagine who he will put their instead, Luke Hanson????

Well what's your solution to Tohus incompetence then?
