🤖 Thread Summary

The discussion centers around New Zealand's infrastructure policies, particularly the defunct Three Waters reform and energy sector privatization. defensivebomb #210787 defended local democratic control over water infrastructure assets that ratepayers have invested in, arguing against centralized management and using Wellington's dysfunctional water network as an example of council accountability. miket12 #210795 provided detailed analysis showing that Green Party wealth tax projections are unrealistic compared to international examples, noting that Spain and Norway's wealth taxes generate only 0.25% and 1.6% of total tax revenue respectively, while the Greens claim their version would raise 13.5%.

The energy sector debate intensified around privatization concerns, MaybeTop8 #210771 criticizing rising power bills as evidence of neoliberal policies benefiting the wealthy at public expense. MrFrankWhite #210751 offered a more optimistic assessment of New Zealand's energy infrastructure, suggesting the country could maintain relatively stable energy costs if it avoids offshore wind and leverages its hydro resources effectively. The conversation also touched on Treaty of Waitangi interpretations regarding co-governance, with participants debating the extent of indigenous rights in infrastructure management and the practical implications of kaitiakitanga principles in modern utility systems.

Lobbying or influencing has been around since the dawn of time.

It's either by the golden rule as you've mentioned or at the end of a gun.

Is Atlas any different to Hamas or Isis etc? Which leads us to question, who funds these types of terror organisations.
Actually I was wrong, the golden rule didn't really work out for the Czars when Lenin came along, sometimes a good propagandist is worth more than gold apparently.

Interesting statement, can you elaborate? Enforcing equality of outcomes might be inherently fascist, but isn't it also a goal of Maoist communist ideals? What's the difference between the two ideologies in that respect?
no. Communism is about common ownership of the means of production. Maoist is simply using insurgency to get there.

Equality of outcome is forcing the same result, by bringing some down, and falsly raising others up.

Looking to sell off New Zealand to the lowest bidder - look out for our resources to be sold off, huge asset sales.

Seymour doesn't have an original thought, it's all provided by right wing think tanks. Right wing thinktanks with deep pockets and extreme agendas.

They're back to finish the job they started 50 years ago. Remember those asset sales that really fucked us over? The huge profits that went into the pockets of the few and went offshore?

This is neoliberalism. This is an open attack on all New Zealanders. Of the wealthy, by the wealthy, for the wealthy. Of the few, by the few, for the few.

This is Act. This is National. Nz First are our only hope. And that statement alone should make us all very afraid.

What about the exterminating the untermensch part of fascism? Actually I suppose they get equality of outcome too.

The CCP made some attempt to achieve equality of outcome, each compensated àccording to their need etc. Sounds like two ideologies with the same aims, give or take the odd disagreement about excluding some groups from the gene pool.

Help us Winston you're our only hope.

Are we fucked?

It would be a sublime irony if he did put the handbrake on selling us out to multinational conglomerates though, if that is the Lux's evil plan. But will he? NZ first my arse. Winston first, always has been.

...or will he?
Unfortunately we have ended up with a weak arsed PM with 2 self serving generals.
The polls since the election haven't been a fair indicator of the opinion of the general public

According to the Taxpayer's Union polls we're all delighted.

My Atlas wall oven is a piece of shit, had nothing but problems with it. Should have read the fine print in the Warranty but it's too small to make out unless you're a fly.
